Embedded software developer

Your role
Are you a passionate software engineer with a strong interest in cyber-physical systems, real-time operating systems, and embedded platform development? Do you want to build high-performance, reliable software platforms that power industrial control systems across Atlas Copco’s global product lines?
What does an embedded software developer do at the Atlas Copco Group in Wilrijk? Working within the Operating System & System Software department and reporting to the Team Manager, you will contribute to the design, implementation, testing, and evolution of embedded software platforms used across our product portfolio. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, maintainable software throughout the full product lifecycle.
Your daily flow involves developing and enhancing low-level embedded software components in C, C++, or Rust within Linux-based environments. You will troubleshoot software issues from early development testing through to field support, perform root-cause analyses, and implement preventive actions. Applying engineering best practices—such as code reviews, continuous integration (CI/CD), and automated testing—you ensure strict compliance with quality standards. Additionally, you will participate in architectural design reviews, maintain technical specifications, and support recurring release activities to ensure long-term platform reliability. You will work via our hybrid model at our facility in Wilrijk.
