Your future job

Your role

What does a designer do at the Atlas Copco Group in Wilrijk? As a designer you will join our portable air division to develop our future product range of mobile compressors for tough applications such as construction, offshore, and drilling. Working closely with project engineers, suppliers, production, purchasing, and service, you carry out deep feasibility studies and build out complete designs for new products in line with master project specifications. Your daily flow as a designer involves developing precise design plans, managing project deadlines, and optimizing systems to ensure they are functional, high-quality, cost-effective, and reliable. You check 3D and 2D annotations, prepare and release bills of materials, and coordinate design tasks when multiple designers are assigned to your project.

Furthermore, you collaborate closely with our global engineering center (Gecia) to set clear targets, track prototypes through build-up phases, and process layout feedback. As you grow, you will train new designers, collaborate with senior colleagues to improve overall design workflows, and contribute directly to our group knowledge database by documenting your technical insights and lessons learned. You will report to the team leader within the engineering department and work via a hybrid model at our facility in Wilrijk.
