The Role

The Solution Owner for Networking and Connectivity holds global accountability for defining, governing, and evolving the company’s enterprise network solutions — including the global backbone, Internet connectivity, SD-WAN, LAN, Wireless LAN, and network security components. This global leadership role spans all business areas and geographical regions, ensuring alignment between enterprise architecture, regional operations, and business needs.

The Solution Owner acts as a strategic bridge between Enterprise Architecture, regional IT, business areas, and project management teams, ensuring consistency, collaboration, and purpose across the global connectivity landscape. The Solution Owner – Networking & Connectivity is a forward-thinking, purpose-driven, and highly engaging leader who combines strategic vision with operational pragmatism.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

Solution Strategy and Governance

  • Define and Govern Solutions: Oversee the global backbone network and site connectivity solutions (Backbone, internet, firewalls, SD-WAN, LAN, Wireless LAN and network security components) to ensure they align with the vision set by Enterprise and Solution Architects.
  • Strategy and Vision: Set the strategic vision and bring structure to the network area, ensuring solutions and products remain current, compliant, and up-to-date.
  • Prioritization: Take responsibility for setting the priorities for network-related projects and major operational changes.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Secure agreement and alignment with various business, regional, and technical stakeholders on all solution design and rollout plans.

Service Management and Operational Excellence

  • Service Wrap and Support: Design and ensure a comprehensive service wrap is in place to secure 24/7 support and operational excellence for all network solutions.
  • Incident and Problem Management: Act as the final escalation point for severe network incidents or solution issues. Drive the resolution of recurring problems by ensuring root cause analysis is identified and addressed.
  • End-User Satisfaction: Actively work to increase end-user satisfaction by defining and implementing the right standard network requests.
  • Operational Collaboration: Collaborate with regional network operations teams and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to ensure seamless day-to-day operations.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Transfer: Ensure that all new solution rollouts include complete documentation, knowledge base articles, and service descriptions.

Vendor and Financial Management

  • Vendor and Partner Management: Manage all vendors and partners providing managed services for network solutions, including conducting regular performance reviews.
  • Financial Accountability: Hold financial responsibility for the solution area, diligently following up on costs and invoices in collaboration with the controlling team.
  • Contract and Service Level Management: Oversee and manage service contracts and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with vendors to ensure service quality and cost efficiency.

What we expect of you? 

Experience Requirements

1. Technical Experience

  • Domain Expertise: Proven and deep technical background in enterprise networking, including experience with global backbone networks and site connectivity (LAN, Wireless LAN, SD-WAN, Internet and network security).
  • Vendor Ecosystem Knowledge: Working knowledge and experience with core network technologies and vendors, including:
    • Cisco
    • Check Point (Security/Firewall solutions)
    • Infoblox (DNS/DHCP/IPAM) is a plus
    • Zscaler (Cloud Security/Internet Access) is a plus
    • SD-WAN (specifically, Arista is a plus, or other leading SD-WAN solutions).
  • Architecture & Implementation: Experience overseeing the implementation of complex global network solutions, ensuring adherence to architectural guidelines.
  • Cloud Networking (is a plus): Knowledge of how to integrate enterprise networks with major cloud service providers (hyperscalers).
  • China Specifics (is a plus): Familiarity with the unique network regulations, providers, and operational challenges specific to doing business in China.

2. Managerial & Functional Experience

  • Transition to Management: Technical network background with significant recent experience in a managerial or leadership capacity.
  • Managed Services: Proven experience managing third-party partners and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) in a global context.
  • Project Management Capabilities: Ability to support and guide project execution for network deployments and transformations, working closely with a dedicated Project Manager.
  • Financial Acumen: Demonstrated ability to work with financial numbers, follow budgets, and track costs/invoices for a global IT domain.
  • Service Management: Practical understanding of IT service management principles; ITIL knowledge is a plus.

3. Non-Technical (Soft Skills & Professional)

  • Communication & Presentation: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical information to business stakeholders and executive management.
    • Required: Strong verbal and written English.
  • Leadership & Guidance: Strong leadership skills with the ability to provide clear guidance, mentor teams (both internal and external), and set a compelling technical vision.
  • Decision-Making: Demonstrated ability to take timely and informed decisions under pressure.
  • User-Centric Focus: A mindset focused on the end-user experience, driving solutions that maximize end-user satisfaction and productivity.
  • Global Mobility: Ability to undertake short trips abroad to align with regional teams, vendors, and partners.
