Your role

What does a supplier quality assurance engineer do at the Atlas Copco Group in Wilrijk? As a supplier quality assurance engineer you will join our portable air division to act as the vital link between international suppliers and our internal cross-functional teams. Working closely with engineering, service, and manufacturing, you take full ownership of ensuring the quality of supplier-delivered components and the absolute robustness of their manufacturing processes.

 

Your daily flow as a supplier quality assurance engineer involves identifying quality risks, prioritizing improvement actions on high-impact problem areas, and managing non-conformities by conducting deep root cause analysis to implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions. You use data-driven insights like ppm, safety kpis, and the cost of non-quality to improve supplier performance, while leveraging lessons learned, design fmeas, and process fmeas to optimize underlying workflows. Additionally, you conduct supplier audits, support selection and qualification processes, and translate new product development designs into clear supplier quality requirements via ppap, apqp, and process validation. By using methodologies such as 8d and lean six sigma, you lead supplier development initiatives that safeguard and enhance our overall supply chain performance. You will report to the team leader within the quality department and work via a hybrid model at our facility in Wilrijk.

  • Degree in mechanical, industrial, or electrical engineering, or equivalent technical experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to tracking quality metrics
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings paired with a solid understanding of manufacturing and inspection techniques
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills in English to clearly convey requirements and influence diverse stakeholders, with knowledge of Dutch considered an asset
  • Proactive, independent mindset with a strong willingness to travel internationally to visit and audit supplier sites
  • Experience in supplier quality or manufacturing quality within an industrial environment considered an asset
  • Knowledge of core quality tools and methodologies such as FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, SPC, PPAP, APQP, or Lean Six Sigma considered a plus

Location

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our sit in Wilrijk.
