Join Edwards, a leader in Vacuum Technique within the Semiconductor Division, as a Manufacturing Engineer based in Asan, Korea. This role plays a pivotal part in bridging the gap between engineering innovation and manufacturing excellence, ensuring that new and existing products transition smoothly into production with optimal quality and efficiency.

Role Overview

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will lead the transition of products from engineering design to manufacturing execution. Your responsibilities will encompass managing and ensuring comprehensive documentation, including manufacturing work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs), to uphold high-quality standards and drive productivity improvements across processes. You will think broadly and creatively to handle challenges innovatively and strategically support and manage operational changes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the transition process for new products from research and development (R&D) to full-scale manufacturing operations, including execution of robust documentation and database management.
  • Develop, review, and maintain manufacturing documentation such as work instructions, SOPs, 4M Change records, Build Sheets, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) documents to ensure accuracy, traceability, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Apply deep understanding of manufacturing needs to review process impacts on design changes, proposing efficient and innovative solutions that balance production effectiveness and quality compliance.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance daily manufacturing operations by applying Lean, Six Sigma, and Total Quality Management (TQM) methodologies, fostering an environment of ongoing operational excellence.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional internal teams and external partners, utilizing strong communication and negotiation skills to resolve conflicts, drive key performance metrics, and address root causes of quality issues, including scrap reduction.
  • Identify and assess potential risks within manufacturing processes, gather relevant data, and contribute to the formulation of solutions that prevent operational disruptions.
  • Act as a project manager for manufacturing implementation projects, ensuring improvements are delivered within agreed scopes and timelines while actively monitoring execution progress.
  • Train and support manufacturing personnel during procedural changes to ensure operational readiness and smooth adaptation to new workflows.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging manufacturing and logistics technologies, assessing their potential integration to advance Edwards’ production efficiency and competitive advantage.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on manufacturing experience, including at least 1 year in a management or leadership role within manufacturing operations.
  • Minimum 2 years of direct experience in advanced manufacturing or operations process planning, with a strong track record of managing manufacturing implementation projects and product transitions from R&D to production.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Solid knowledge of mechanical, electrical control systems, and pneumatic circuits essential for manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks, including 3D modeling and digital mock-ups.
  • Experience with SAP manufacturing modules and managing Engineering Bills of Materials (EBOM) and Manufacturing Bills of Materials (MBOM) for both new and existing products.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies, with Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word for data analysis, presentations, and documentation.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Korean to effectively communicate in a global and multicultural environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate persuasively across all organizational levels, including senior management and external partners.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced production environment.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and robust problem-solving skills to address and prevent manufacturing issues.
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally to support projects and cross-site activities.
