About the Role
As the NPI Project Manager, you will oversee the end-to-end management of complex projects within all Integrated Systems product groups, involving applications from load lock to full processing systems. Your leadership will be critical in managing the day-to-day activities of a diverse team of approximately 20 to 30 professionals spanning functions such as Technical, Manufacturing, and Supply Management. While team members maintain direct reporting lines to functional managers, you will serve as the primary authority responsible for project governance, scheduling, and execution, reporting directly to the Regional Program Manager - NPI.
The typical project lifecycle lasts up to three years with a budget ranging between $3 million and $5 million, targeting revenue generation of approximately $100 million in the first five years after launch. You will be entrusted with controlling project costs, including discretionary expenditures of $0.5 to $1 million over the project duration.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all facets of new product development projects within integrated systems, ensuring comprehensive management from early concept selection (Gate 1) through to final factory implementation and operational handover (Gate 6).
- Manage scheduling adherence and project milestones by utilizing project management tools and conducting formal reviews such as Project Team Meetings (PTMs), Design Reviews (DRs), and Manufacturing Reviews (MRs), consistently aligning with the Product Creation Process (PCP).
- Provide strategic guidance and mentorship by coaching project leads and engineers, fostering professional growth and improving project management office (PMO) capabilities and development processes.
- Prepare, compile, and present Critical Project Review (CPR) materials with comprehensive input from your multidisciplinary project team to senior management stakeholders.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration and influence key decision-makers across technical, manufacturing, and supply chain disciplines to overcome challenges and ensure project success.
- Continuously support and incorporate new advancements or changes to established project and product development frameworks, enhancing process efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or industrial economics is required; advanced degrees are advantageous.
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in new product development within high-technology environments, with a strong preference for candidates experienced in integrated systems.
- Deep understanding and hands-on experience with advanced manufacturing methods applicable to the vacuum and semiconductor sectors.
- Proven expertise in project management methodologies, including the application of standard procedures and competency standards to complex, high-value projects.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, influencing, and negotiation skills at senior levels, both internally within the company and externally with partners and suppliers.
- Advanced proficiency in English is essential to effectively communicate and collaborate within the global environment Edwards operates in.
