Are you our Mechanical Engineer Intern?

This role reports directly to the Mechanical Engineering Manager and will be onsite full-time out of our Auburn Hills, MI facility. Your ability to prioritize tasks, stay detail-oriented, think resourcefully, and take ownership of your work will be essential to your success in this dynamic internship experience.

In addition to your local responsibilities, this position will participate in Atlas Copco’s Global Industrial Internship Program. As a participant you’ll be part of a global project within the Industrial Technique Business Area, where you join a diverse group of talented students from around the world to collaborate virtually on a business challenge together, tackling real challenges that impact our business. You’ll also take part in exclusive learning sessions with senior leaders, both virtually and on-site and receive mentorship and access to internal training programs to accelerate your professional growth.

Here’s how you’ll make an impact:

Atlas Copco is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to provide an opportunity to work on actual initiatives that support our 2026 Business Plan. The initiatives will be relevant to your academic growth and will offer you the chance to build as you work across multiple disciplines in the organization.

These initiatives include Project Engineering support, Project Design support, and assisting in the standardization of a product offering. Contribute value by giving input, sharing knowledge, and challenging the status quo. Work and be curious to learn and jump in to add value. Understand we do not know all the answers and encourage you to bring academic and practical knowledge to share with Atlas Copco. Expect a great place to work and know you are valued!

The internship will conclude with a final presentation to the leadership team and highlight the impact you made at Atlas Copco.

To succeed, you will need

• Must be able to travel to Sweden from 8/23 – 8/28. Passport Required.
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, in your junior year with a minimum GPA of 3.3
• Successful completion of Computer-Aided Design and Engineering (CAD) coursework required
• 2 months or more of experience with 3D CAD software
• Basic understanding of engineering mechanics (statics)
• Familiarity with manufacturing tools and processes
• Completion of a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) course preferred
• Responsible for mechanical design tasks related to solution production
• Ability to work 40 hours per week with flexible scheduling
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the work location
