Important Employment Information

 

This role is located in Baghdat and will be hired through a third-party employment provider, as Atlas Copco does not maintain a legal entity or Customer Center in the country. While administrative processes such as contracts and payroll will be handled externally, your day-to-day operations will be fully connected to the Turkiye Customer Center, reporting to the Business Line Manager in Turkiye 

Your role

As an Area Sales Engineer, your mission is to develop sales and market our products in Basra Iraq by leveraging your technical expertise and understanding of customer needs. You will report to the Business Line Manager and work closely with product teams to ensure successful execution of sales strategies.

You will:

  • Establish and manage channel partners through the distribution network.
  • Conduct market research and identify opportunities in the assigned region.
  • Generate product requirements and determine regional specifications.
  • Coordinate production timetables, pricing, and plans for product introduction.
  • Develop marketing strategies and manage dealer relationships.
  • Deliver product training and support after-sales activities.
  • Drive sales for Portable Compressors, Handheld Tools, Generators, Pumps, and Light Towers and Aftermarket Products.

To succeed, you will need

You have:

  • 3+ years of experience working as a Sales Engineer or in a similar technical-commercial role.
  • A university degree in Engineering, Marketing, or Business Management (preferably mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering).

 

Non-negotiable skills:

  • Strong technical know-how and marketing knowledge.
  • Ability to develop and execute sales strategies, including dealer management and channel development.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal) and a valid local driving license.

 

Preferred skills:

  • Experience in market research and determining customer needs through data collection and analysis.
  • Ability to recommend product scope, review specifications, and appraise new product ideas or packaging changes.
  • Skilled in competitor analysis and defining product marketing communication objectives.
  • Experience in preparing short- and long-term sales forecasts, special reports, and answering management requests.
  • Ability to manage inventory turnover and product availability through forecasting and production schedule alignment.
  • Expertise in pricing strategies using market research data and cost analysis for customized orders.
  • Familiarity with digitalization tools and platforms for product development, sales, and marketing activities.
  • Strong understanding of product management and value creation principles.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office) and adaptability to new technologies.

 

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Regular dealer and end-user visits, product training, and after-sales support.
  • Selling and promoting service products (e.g., maintenance parts, kits, lubricants).
  • Building and maintaining strong business relationships with customers and distributors.
  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, and networking.
  • Contributing to team efforts and performing other duties as directed by management.

This role is fully remote, enabling you to work from anywhere within the region of Basra, while being associated with our customer center in Turkiye.
