Product Marketing Manager, Vacuum

As a Product Marketing Manager, Vacuum - Quincy Compressor - Bay Minette, AL, your mission is to along with the vacuum team’s Business Line Manager and Business Development Specialist, you are the driving force behind Quincy’s vacuum product portfolio. You report to the Business Line Manager, and work closely with all sales channel personnel to grow the vacuum business. 

You will

  • · Develop and execute plans to profitably grow the Vacuum Business for Quincy Customer Center

    · Be the product expert on the vacuum team, fully understand the mechanical functioning, software application, and control philosophy of the products in the portfolio.

    · Identify gaps in the existing portfolio vs. sales goals / initiatives, and present solutions to address the business needs. With the support of Business Line Manager, create a rolling 2 year product roadmap.

    · Follow an agreed upon process for driving development of vacuum products within the Quincy portfolio to include (but not limited to), ideation, business justification, business plans, cost analysis, prototyping, launch, updates and retirement.

    · Drive product launch activities, including (but not limited to); product pricing / deviation analysis, branded product support documentation, marketing brochures, online presence, business systems implementation and service training.

    · Prepare marketing content including product videos/demonstrations, and conduct/support external webinars to help ensure the Quincy name is relevant to vacuum markets and applications.

    · Update existing products and associated documentation in accordance with design changes, performance updates, and sales/cost adjustments.

    · Maintain database of written product specifications

    · Assist with ensuring products meet consolidated gross profit goals, working closely with Marketing, Finance, and the Product Company. Make recommendations for pricing changes on all models and systems.

    · Assist in managing proper stock levels and communicating lead times. Ensure minimum balances are set strategically to ensure availability for products based on demand while also balancing the business needs to avoid excess inventory and related overhead.

    · Act as voice of the customer with our product companies so they have a clear understanding how their performance impacts end-customer satisfaction.

    · Ensure product company’s production plan is aligned with our goals for accurate and on-time delivery.

    · Support sales channels with customer visits, providing application and product expertise to end-users while uncovering customer’s needs and buying requirements.

    · Support the sizing and selection of vacuum opportunities to provide the best solution to the customer’s specific needs.

    · Maintain a strong knowledge of competitive product pricing to advise channel partners in support of sales and maximize gross profit.

    · Maintain a strong knowledge of competitive products, identifying and communicating strengths to sales partners during opportunities, and identifying and communicating weaknesses to Quincy Leadership and Business Development Specialist.

    · Prepare and give product presentations to communicate features / benefits, and applicability to applications.

    · Train Sales and Distribution team members, so they have the competence required to support customers as a world-class organization.

Required Experience and Skills

· 3 to 5 years experience in a relevant field.

· Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment design.

· Clear understanding of vacuum system concepts such as pump-down, pressure drop, centralization, condensate/humidity management, pressure set-point control, valving and instrumentation.

· Strong skills required for developing impactful presentations.

· Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.

· Flexibility in adapting to new situations and enjoy the challenges you are presented.

· Must exhibit a bias for action, and take initiative when a need or obstacle is identified.

· Ability to think and act entrepreneurially with analytical skills, you are customer and service-oriented, while taking a very pragmatic approach

· Team player – able to cooperate with commercial and technical people, and to communicate well with remote colleagues

· Fluent in English

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications

· Experience in equipment sales, product management, or business development

· Strong technical knowledge of vacuum pumps and systems

· Experience with a variety of vacuum applications.

· Industry Sales Experience with a history of delivering sales results

 

Accountability:

Reports to Business Line Manager, Vacuum

 

Education and Requirements:

· An academic background in Engineering and/or Marketing or equivalent work experience

· Must have a high technical and commercial aptitude

· Understanding the local market and local distribution is a plus

 

Physical Demands:

· Required to be able to move about the facility regularly (standing, walking)

· Must be fit, willing and able to travel regularly on planes and by car
