Your role

As a Mechanical Engineer - Sustaining SAQ, reporting to the Team Manager - Sustaining, this role provides reactive, customerdriven mechanical engineering support through the Single Agenda for Quality (SAQ), addressing live service issues that require rapid engineering input. The role focuses on protecting customers, restoring product functionality, and maintaining confidence in equipment already deployed in the field by responding quickly and effectively to service escalations. The role operates primarily within the 8D problemsolving framework, undertaking urgent failure investigation and root cause analysis, defining engineering dispositions, concessions, and corrective actions, and working closely with Field Service teams to enable timely closure of actions, ensuring safe, compliant, and robust engineering solutions under timecritical conditions.

You will

  • Provide mechanical engineering support to released products in volume production and in the field, ensuring safe, compliant and reliable operation.
  • Lead investigation and resolution of mechanical issues from manufacturing, service and customers, using structured problem solving (e.g., 8D/5-Why/FMEA) and driving corrective and preventive actions.
  • Own and deliver sustaining changes (ECR/ECO), including design updates, drawing/BOM updates, tolerance/fit reviews and documentation updates, working through configuration control and engineering change processes.
  • Support root-cause reduction of quality escapes and reliability issues by partnering with Quality and Operations; define verification/validation activities and ensure changes meet product, regulatory and SEMI safety requirements.
  • Manage component obsolescence and supplier/PCN-driven change impacts, assessing risk and coordinating equivalent/alternate part qualification with Supply Chain and Manufacturing.
  • Drive continuous improvement and cost-down initiatives for released products (DFMA/DFX), and support creation of robust service procedures, tooling and training to improve serviceability and uptime.
