Your future job

Your role

As a Senior Product Cost Engineer - Sustaining, reporting to the Associate Principal Engineer – Mechanical Design, the Senior Product Cost Engineer is responsible for identifying cost‑reduction opportunities and designing, validating, and implementing engineering changes to mechanical and/or electrical components to deliver realised cost savings, while maintaining required standards for safety, performance, quality, and compliance

You will

  • Deliver released engineering design changes that reduce the cost of Edwards products and components (mechanical and/or electrical) while maintaining required standards for safety, performance, quality, and compliance.
  • Identify and convert cost reduction opportunities across mechanical and electrical components into implemented engineering solutions, resulting in released changes and realised savings.
  • Own the engineering design output for assigned cost reduction initiatives, producing the required models, drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials to enable manufacture and release.
  • Demonstrate that lower cost mechanical or electrical solutions are acceptable replacements for existing designs, through appropriate analysis, testing, trials, and validation.
  • Enable successful implementation of cost reduction changes into production by working with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and external suppliers to ensure solutions are robust, manufacturable, and repeatable.
  • Address design driven cost drivers in collaboration with Supply Chain, ensuring engineering decisions appropriately reflect supplier capability, manufacturing processes, and sourcing options.
  • Maintain engineering accountability for risk, reliability, and compliance associated with cost reduction changes, ensuring savings are achieved without introducing unacceptable technical, safety, or operational risk.
