Your future job

Your role

As a Team Manager - Sustaining Electrical Engineering, reporting to a echnical Manager ,this role has direct responsibility for leading, empowering and motivating multiple teams of sustaining engineers with a strong mechanical or electrical bias. The team is accountable for safe, compliant and timely engineering support across the product lifecycle, from issue triage and root-cause investigation through design change, validation and release, including support to customer commissioning, field trials and in‑service reliability improvements. The role works closely with manufacturing, quality, service, supply chain, project management and customer stakeholders to ensure robust product performance, controlled change, and continuous improvement to specification, cost and schedule.

You will

  • Lead, guide and motivate a team of ~6 mechanical and/or electrical engineers by setting clear goals and SMART objectives, completing development plans, and providing regular coaching, mentoring and 1:1s; build capability across mechanical and electrical disciplines, including support for professional registration, to create a high‑performing and continuously improving engineering function.
  • Advocate and lead the adoption of best practice mechanical/electrical engineering to improve the delivery of the engineering function to time, cost, quality and specification, whilst ensuring the appropriate level of effective technical governance is in place for safety, compliance, quality and reliability.
  • Input into and distribute work packages, often across multiple cross functional teams, guiding the project toward a successful passage through project milestones through to completion and volume production.
  • Own technical governance for sustaining changes: ensure safe design decisions, appropriate reviews, and compliance to relevant standards; drive robust documentation and configuration control (e.g., ECR/ECO) from problem statement through release.
  • Provide leadership and direction for mechanical and electrical problem solving, including failure investigation, root cause analysis (e.g., 8D/FMEA), containment actions, and verification of corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) to improve reliability and serviceability.
  • Ensure sustaining deliverables meet stakeholder requirements from system level down to sub‑system/component level, with clear validation and verification plans (including test strategy, acceptance criteria, and traceability).
  • Partner with manufacturing, quality and supply chain to resolve production and supplier issues (e.g., obsolescence, escapes, variability), driving design-for-manufacture and design-for-service improvements where appropriate.

To succeed, you will need

We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every single requirement. We value diverse experiences and perspectives and are excited to see what you bring to the role.
