Development Engineer

Your Role
Bring your curiosity to work as our next Development Engineer. You will be part of our R&D Programs, Emerging Technology team reporting to Mick Norrington. In this role, your mission is to lead the pilot production of LRP’s (Liquid Ring Pumps). LRP manufacture is a new undertaking for the organisation – it will require close focus as the product matures and volumes grow prior to transfer to a Product Company.
The role will be transitioned into an Emerging Technologies Development Engineer role following hand-over to the LRP NPI team. It is estimated that this will occur 9 months after appointment but is subject to change.
You will contribute directly to how we create high‑quality products and solutions for our customers.
Your day-to-day
• Maintain a 6S compliant production area.
• Develop a UK-based supply chain for the LRP.
• Manage inventory and parts ordering based on demand planning.
• Maintain traceability of components with reference to an LRP serial No.
• Develop SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) for LRP build.
• Support the analysis of field found defects and reliability feedback.
Your skills and experience
• An engineering apprenticeship or equivalent experience
• More than five years experience of laboratory or workshop environments
• Domain knowledge of vacuum pumps and production methods.
• Direct knowledge of engineering methods; ECN (Engineering Change Notice), BOM (Bill of Materials). SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures)
• Familiarity with methods of mechanical measurement
