[MISSION]

 

Located within the KRN Aftermarket Organization in Busan, the Commissioning Engineer executes installation, commissioning, cold gas testing, and start-up support for screw and turbo compressor packages installed on LNG carriers. The role ensures safe, timely, and high-quality project completion while providing first-level customer support and field feedback for continuous product improvement.

 

 

 

 

 

[KEY RESPONSIBILITY]

 

As a commissioning engineer you will be highly involved in the customer orders during its final stages starting already with the FAT in our test field. You will prepare the installation and subsequent commissioning phase from technical as well as scheduling point of view with the on-site coordinator and the project manager. Technical support will be provided by the engineering team, mainly the I&C engineers.

This challenging and exciting job is part of the After Market of the local PC in Busan and is linked to our prime business.

The position includes, but is not limited to, the following technical tasks and activities:

  • You will support the installation of the delivered compressors to achieve optimal performance and efficiency
  • You will start up our compressors including running diagnostic testing together with the customer team
  • You will execute and support the cold gas test of the installed machines and such their integration into the on board processes
  • You will attend customer meetings, plan daily activities with onsite labor and call out utilities and equipment required to meet the project schedule.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve machinery issues directly at the customer's location. Hands on job to carry out field repair and maintenance of the compressors to resolve site issue.
  • Customer Service: Ensure clear and efficient communication with the client while following safety protocols throughout all commissioning stages. Be able to train customers.
  • You will prepare daily project activity and technical reports and communicate closely with the project manager and the on-site coordinator of the PC in Busan
  • Participate de-briefing to assure communication of improvement issues back to engineering and production, frequently participate in design review meetings
  • Maintain proper business travel practices in a safe and cost-efficient manner. Follow all company and departmental procedures and guidelines.

[REQUIREMENTS]

 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automation/Electrical Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
  • Technical knowledge of turbo and/or screw compressor packages (rotating machinery) and related auxiliary equipment such as heat exchangers, drives, controls, and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of control systems and PLC programming.
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken; Korean language proficiency required.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft 365 applications; familiarity with ERP systems (SAP is an advantage) and PLM systems.
  • Previous field service or commissioning experience.
  • Experience in marine environments, particularly LNG applications, is a strong advantage.
  • Experience working with turbo and/or screw compressor packages, rotating machinery, and associated auxiliary equipment.
  • Experience supporting installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, or technical service activities.
  • Experience working with customers and cross-functional stakeholders in a service or project environment
  • High communicative skills in dealing with customers, internal interfaces, and also suppliers
