GAP_Engineer_Field Service

Your Role
The Field Service Engineer performs inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, upgrade, and overhaul of marine compressor packages and related equipment worldwide. The role primarily provides after-service onboard vessels during dry-docking, on-voyage operation, and port calls, while supporting commissioning activities when requested.
Your day-to-day

Perform inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, upgrades, and overhauls of marine compressor packages and related equipment to ensure reliable operation.

Deliver field service support onboard vessels during dry-docking, port calls, and while in operation, including commissioning activities when required.

Prepare for service assignments by reviewing work scope, technical documentation, safety requirements, tools, spare parts, and site conditions.

Execute service activities in compliance with safety standards, risk assessment procedures, customer requirements, and approved technical guidelines.

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, control, and operational issues, communicate technical findings and job progress, and escalate complex matters when additional support is needed.

Complete accurate service documentation, maintain field-service tools and equipment, share technical knowledge, and identify opportunities for service, upgrades, repairs, and spare-parts sales while representing Atlas Copco professionally.
Your skills and experience

Degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Practical experience in field service, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, upgrades, or overhauls of rotating equipment, preferably including screw or centrifugal compressors and associated systems.

Strong technical knowledge of rotating equipment and the ability to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical and electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, manuals, and service documentation.

Familiarity with compressor components and control systems, including seals, bearings, PLCs, HMIs, as well as service reporting systems, PLM, CRM, ERP platforms, and Microsoft 365 applications.

Customer-focused and safety-oriented mindset with strong hands-on problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ownership, and the ability to work independently in demanding field environments.

Effective communication skills in English, experience working with customers and international stakeholders, and flexibility to travel frequently and support operations under varying schedules and site conditions.

Your location
You will be part of our production center in Busan, Korea (the Republic of) (KR). You join a field service team that works close to our customers, where most of your time is spent traveling within your assigned area to support them on-site.
