Your role

As a Technical Manager A&D, your mission is to Drive technical excellence in product development by guiding engineering teams to deliver innovative, high quality solutions that meet market needs, drive differentiation, and support strategic business growth for New Product Introduction (NPI). This role ensures concepts translate into manufacturable, reliable, compliant products delivered on time, on cost, and on spec.  You will report to the Product Engineering Manager.

 

You will

 

  • Act as the technical authority for relevant projects, ensuring clear understanding of products, functions, and design intent.
  • Lead and manage all engineering activities across disciplines—mechanical, electrical, software, test, and development engineering—for assigned systems.
  • Provide technical direction and expertise to ensure system designs are standardized, configurable, and optimized for performance, uptime, and cost of ownership.
  • Collaborate with Programme Management and the Technology Group to align on strategy, receive guidance, and escalate technical challenges when necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to engineering processes, documentation standards, and quality procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review and approve system designs, ensuring they meet functional requirements and are verified, validated, and documented for customer adoption.
  • Guide the A&D technical team through all development phases, from concept to implementation, ensuring timely delivery and technical excellence.
  • Make informed, timely decisions to resolve technical issues with a focus on customer value and business impact.
  • Identify and manage resource needs, including headcount planning, equipment, and software/hardware availability.
  • Coordinate with global stakeholders and support communication across Product Companies, including occasional international travel.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, science, or related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in system development and integration projects.
  • Proven track record of leading complex projects across multiple domains.
  • Experience working with international teams and customers, including travel for alignment.
  • Demonstrated success in mentoring teams and driving technical excellence in programs.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities in cross-functional environments.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken) for global collaboration and reporting.
  • Ability to guide teams through development, testing, and implementation phases.

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our Clevedon Office in Clevedon, United Kingdom (GB).
