Your role
As a R&D - Mechanical Design Engineer Automation (m/w/d), you will play a key role in the large automation initiative from Atlas Copco with the focus on automated feeding solutions. In this role you will be involved in the modular - product development of automated feeding and tightening modules for our global feeding and automation products. The main mission is to develop products with the highest quality and leading technology giving the best value for the customers or as we say in Atlas Copco, to be – First in mind and First in Choice -, in their eyes. You will report to the Technical Lead - Srew Feeding Solutions.

Create new products and solutions for automated feeding systems as part of an agile development team

Design innovative feeding and tightening modules by combining Atlas Copco core products

Test and evaluate the latest technologies and trends in automation and robotics

Perform mechanical analyses to ensure durability and performance of developed solutions

Develop rapid prototypes and deliver fast, target-oriented concept analyses

Provide technical support to internal and external customers

Prepare technical documentation, assembly instructions, and maintenance guidelines, ensuring compliance with safety standards and industry regulations

Support product launches with on-site installation and maintenance activities at international customer locations
To succeed, you will need
- Technical academic degree within Engineering or other relevant areas and high application knowledge around Automation and tightening technique
- 5+ years in mechanical design for automation systems; experience with feeding solutions is highly desirable
- Familiar with SolidWorks
- Knowledge of automation principles, mechanical motion systems, and material handling.
- Familiarity with pneumatic and servo-driven mechanisms Innovative,
- Following technological trends, in close cooperation with the customer
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0 concepts and smart automation.
- Understanding of PLC integration and sensor technologies
- Very good knowledge in English and German, speaking and writing
- Team player with good communication skills with different stakeholders

Job location
This role requires you to work on-site at our office in Darmstadt, Germany (DE) with the possibility to work remotely according to our mobile office policies. You will be part of a dynamic team and enjoy the benefits of face-to-face collaboration.
