Manufacturing Engineer

Your role
As a Manufacturing Engineer reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager, you will spearhead the local engineering and maintenance teams in the identification, development, and execution of a diverse portfolio of impactful projects. Your primary objective will be to establish and maintain a network of Service Technology Centres (STCs) that are agile and equipped to meet the evolving demands of our customers. This will involve leveraging the latest lean manufacturing techniques to optimize quality and cost-efficiency.
- Lead initiatives to ensure STCs possess the capacity and capability tailored to regional needs while maintaining rigorous quality standards in a cost-effective manner.
- Develop comprehensive documentation and data repositories that accurately detail the features and capacities of each STC and its assets.
In addition to project leadership, your role encompasses providing crucial support to various internal departments including Operations, Quality, Safety, Health, Environment (SHE), New Product Introduction, and Technology teams.
Main Responsibilities:
- Drive the conception and execution of multi-million dollar CAPEX projects, developing detailed designs, engaging suppliers, constructing financial models, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Manage comprehensive project plans, coordinate with stakeholders including external contractors, chair meetings to monitor progress, and carry out thorough post-project evaluations to gauge success and areas for improvement.
- Oversee a continuous improvement portfolio, integrating feedback from local and global teams, applying lean principles such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM), and utilizing capacity models to enhance operational efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with regional leadership and operations management to align continuous improvement priorities and track performance regularly.
- Maintain and update capacity and utilization models for all managed STCs, analyzing site configurations and forecasting to anticipate equipment needs and shifts.
- Lead time-study initiatives ensuring that product allocations within the region adhere to internal standards and contribute to process optimization.
- Implement global internal directives aimed at resolving quality or operational challenges, including communication and coordination of such initiatives.
- Fulfill engineering responsibilities related to the Vacuum Technique Production System (VTPS), including participation in site operations meetings and supporting problem-solving on the shop floor.
- Coordinate submissions for Kaizen proposals, permits, and engineering changes through internal governance structures to maintain standards and facilitate improvements.
- Conduct and lead engineering audits to ensure compliance with established standards, identifying deviations and managing corrective actions.
- Provide leadership and development for the local engineering team, setting clear and measurable goals aligned with regional objectives, and fostering ongoing professional growth through structured mentoring and training opportunities.

To thrive in this position, you should bring:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in an engineering role with a proven track record in team management.
- An engineering degree or equivalent qualification, demonstrating strong technical foundation.
- Extensive experience managing complex relationships with external stakeholders including suppliers and contractors.
- Exceptional customer focus and ability to understand and anticipate client requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, adept in liaising across diverse geographical and cultural environments.
- Proficiency in managing multiple complex projects simultaneously from conception through completion, including financial planning and risk assessment.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and deliver results in matrix organizations without direct authority.
- Experience in driving change management and building consensus in challenging settings.
- Fluent English language skills, with confidence in technical discussions.
- Ongoing commitment to the professional development of self and team members.
- Flexibility in working patterns to effectively collaborate with global counterparts.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing methodologies and quality tools such as Kaizen, PFMEA, VSM, time-study, and problem-solving frameworks.
- Familiarity with engineering productivity tools, including AutoCAD, MS Project, Office 365, and Power BI.
- Project Management certification is advantageous.
- Preferred experience with high-precision mechanical system design and manufacturing.
