CAD/Mechanical Manager

Your role
As a CAD Manager, your mission is to manage a CAD team responsible for mechanical and PCB layout aspects of product design, covering electronic componenets and vacuum instrumentation products for the Eastbourne Product Company, alighed with the business requirements of Atlas Copco Vacuum Technique Divisions.
The role responsibilities include:
Maintain awaerness of VT Divisional product roadmaps;
Mentor and provide technical leadership to the CAD team, advising on how to drive work to completion to the satisfaction of all stakeholders. Champion the adoption of best practice including alignment to established development processes.
Stregthen the CAD team demonstrating strong leadership to ensuer effective recruitment and selection, objective setting and development.
Stay current with the latest manufacturing and CAD design processes, continually looking for ways to improve. provide internal/external customer support for new and existing projects (investigation and diagnosing og product defects).
Ensuring product lifecycle management is maintained from concept through to prodcution in line with company standards. Oversee and promote the use of recision control/PLM systems. Drive the evolution and maintanance of company standards to support a continuous improvement approach to the delivery of high-quality, reliable products.
Support the process to import and convert mechanical and PCB designs from other Product Companies into Eastbourne compliant formats to enable smooth handover to Eastbourne manufacturing.
Interface with and supervise offshore company departments as well as 3rd party suppliers to schedule and manage workload overspill from the CAD designers. Co-ordinate the CAD response to EC requests as required.

- Recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Team leadership experience would be beneficial although this would also be a good opportunity for a lead engineer looking to make the next step up.
- Significant experience in developing and supporting the mechanical and PCB design aspects of customer-deliverable electronics-based products.
- Strong understanding of product development processes.
- Must be a good communicator and have excellent fluency in spoken and written English. Ability to make decisions based on a knowledge of the business and an understanding of the business impact
- Experience working in a global engineering environment and working with international teams to deliver electronics and product solutions. Experience working in a multi-disciplinary design environment.
- Significant experience working in a regulated, compliance-driven industry. Strong understanding on product safety and compliance.
- Some experience in a project management role would be beneficial.
IMechE, Chartered Mechanical Engineer preferred Bachelor or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering or a related engineering discipline
