An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Software Test Engineer to join the Edwards team based at Product Company Eastbourne.

 

As a Lead Software Test Engineer, your mission is to architect and lead the development and support for software testing to meet the business needs of Atlas Copco Vacuum Technique Divisions. You will be involved in all stages of the software development lifecycle from requirements capturing to release validation and approval. You will report to the [add hiring manager title].

 

You will

  • Stay informed on product roadmaps and software research across the Vacuum Technique Division. Recommend new software test development opportunities within the team or elsewhere in the division.
  • Use specialist software expertise to guide the creation of innovative solutions and develop scalable, maintainable test architectures for wider use.
  • When needed, act as team lead and/or SCRUM Master to support smooth Agile development, protect team resources, and run retrospectives.
  • Provide mentoring and technical leadership, helping the team progress work effectively and promoting established best practices.
  • Ensure the team clearly understands completion criteria for software, and support consistent testing and timely code reviews.
  • Maintain and automate the regression test framework, and produce test plans that define completion criteria and enable automated regression testing and rapid releases.
  • Supervise, coach, and support team members to drive continuous improvement in development and testing processes.
  • Oversee production code releases and ensure all required design and test documentation meets company standards, applying appropriate governance for permitted or Engineering Change releases.

  • Bachelor or Masters degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline.
  • Significant experience in developing software for supporting customer-deliverable electronics based products.
  • Strong understanding of software development and continuous integration and deployment processes.
  • Must be a good communicator and have excellent fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Experience working in a global engineering environment and working with international teams to deliver software and software test solutions.  Experience working in a multi-disciplinary design environment
  • Experience working in a regulated, compliance-driven industry
  • Some experience in a project management role using both Waterfall and Agile (SCRUM) frameworks.

Job location

On-Site
This role requires you to work on-site at our office in Eastbourne, United Kingdom (GB). You will be part of a dynamic team and enjoy the benefits of face-to-face collaboration.


There will be some need to travel to UK & European locations, and maybe very occasionally to Asia or US locations, e.g. to other Vacuum Technique sites, key suppliers and, possibly, customers.
