Lead Test Engineer

Your role
An excititing opportunity has airsen for a Lead Test Engineer to join the Edwards team based at Product Company Eastbourne.
As a Lead Test Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of automated Module Test and PCA Test solutions for new products entering into volume manufacturing. You will design computer-controlled electronic Automated Test Equipment for the production facility in Eastbourne PC. You will report to the [add hiring manager title].
You will
- Develop PCA and module‑level test solutions for manufacturing assemblies during NPI development, supporting low‑ to medium‑volume production. Work collaboratively with the Operations team to commission these solutions and hand them over to production for stand‑alone build and test use.
- Identify opportunities for automation to reduce test times, streamline operator interfaces, and minimise the potential for human error.
- Create and maintain effective feedback loops to support continuous improvement, strengthen test integrity, and maximise test coverage.
- Stay informed about industry advancements and proactively identify opportunities to apply modern methodologies to new generations of NPIs.
- Support test solutions up to formal handover to Operations, ensuring clear reporting of test errors and appropriate handling of false failures. Ensure FTTFR targets are well understood and that test equipment and methods are sufficiently robust to meet performance requirements. Continuously explore ways to enhance the resilience of test solutions.
- Design and develop automated Electrical Safety Test Systems for modules that operate at high voltage.
- Identify, onboard, and collaborate with third‑party partners to deliver alternative test solutions where appropriate.

- Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent required. Alternatively an Electronics Diploma with demonstrated ability would qualify
- Strong knowledge of electronics theory and some knowledge of electronics design are key requirements as is an ability to read and work from electronic schematics and system diagrams
- Strong investigation skills and ability to quickly establish problem root cause
- An ability to read and develop computer programs developed in Visual Studio (C# or VB.NET)
- Good team working ability and interpersonal communications skills.
- Competent in use of Microsoft Word and Excel

This role requires you to work on-site at our office in Eastbourne, United Kingdom (GB). You will be part of a dynamic team and enjoy the benefits of face-to-face collaboration.
There will be some need to travel to other Vacuum Technique sites and key suppliers as well occasional customer facing travel.
