Are you our Controls Build Team Lead?

This role reports directly to the Shop Foreman at our Atlas Copco-Grayling, MI facility.  The Controls Build Team Lead plays a crucial role in the assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of pipe and wiring systems for automated feeding equipment. This position is responsible for overseeing the construction and integration of electrical and control systems, ensuring proper functionality, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. The Team Lead is expected to coordinate team members, manage project timelines, and provide technical guidance to ensure smooth operations in the controls build process.

Here’s how you’ll make an impact:

  • Lead the team and participate in assembling and installing electrical wiring, control panels, sensors, actuators, and associated hardware according to Controls Build blueprints
  • Train and mentor team members on electrical wiring practices, safety protocols, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Layout machine controls from prints, test, troubleshoot, and install 24vdc, 120v, and 480v systems
  • Run switch cords between I/O and I/O blocks while organizing the cables for visual appearance and optimal functionality of the tool or machine
  • Route cables into enclosures through cable glands or cord grips and be able to properly terminate the wires to the proper terminal
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters and voltmeters to ensure compatibility and safety of the system.
  • Act as a point of contact between engineering teams and build teams to clarify technical specification
  • Use shop tools, both hand and power and oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the Controls work area
  • Travel maybe required at times

To Succeed, You Will Need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of electrical wiring, control systems, automation equipment, mechanical design, pneumatics and manufacturing workflow
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide and execute metric system conversions
  • Prior enforcement of industry regulations and safety standards
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment
  • Good oral and written communication skills to interact with employees
