Mechanical Engineer
As a Mechanical Engineer at Atlas Copco Compressors LLC, your role is vital to advancing the design, development, and validation of cutting-edge mechanical systems and components within our Compressor Technique business area. You will drive innovative product solutions that balance performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness, supporting our commitment to engineering excellence and customer satisfaction. This position involves close collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, managing projects from initial concept through production and post-launch evaluation. Reporting to the General Manager, you will engage in tasks such as designing reciprocating compressor valves, selecting appropriate materials including metals, plastics, and composites, and integrating them into existing compressor frameworks to enhance overall functionality and reliability. Your expertise will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives including product simplification, standardization, and documentation updates, ensuring our solutions meet stringent industry standards and customer requirements. - A comprehensive understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including structural design, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as Creo Parametric or Pro/E, and skillful application of GD&T standards in creating detailed mechanical drawings.
- Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA) methodologies, and expertise in performing tolerance stack-up analyses to optimize product durability.
- Strong analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills to effectively oversee product lifecycles from ideation through manufacturing and field testing.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
