1. Product & Application Expertise
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of company products and their applications in semiconductor and display-related processes.
Monitor and report on process analysis, application trends, emerging technologies, AIBs, BKMs, and other pertinent industry insights.
2. Technical Evaluation Management
Lead and oversee technical evaluations, including JDP/JEPs and field trials of company products within targeted processes.
Prepare detailed technical proposals grounded in extensive application knowledge.
Develop and implement effective project plans for evaluations, trials, and new application initiatives.
Support the successful introduction of new products while strengthening and expanding the market presence of existing products.
3. Technical Issue Resolution
Proactively identify, manage, and resolve technical issues during the technology evaluation phase of the sales process.
Analyze process-related challenges and deliver dependable solutions to ensure successful product deployment and complete customer satisfaction.
4. Customer Engagement
Establish and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing customers throughout the sales cycle.
Identify customer requirements and application needs through proactive engagement and technical consultation.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with the sales team as a key technical advisor and solution provider.
Partner with the field service team to address technical issues related to semiconductor/display processes and company products that may influence sales.
Provide design and specification development support to Product Managers, R&D, and technical teams by sharing customer insights on:
Semiconductor/display process technologies
Critical regulations
Market trends
Unique business environment requirements
Ensure accurate URFs and application requirements through close coordination with internal stakeholders.
6. Product Development Support
Assist R&D in translating customer needs into practical, manufacturable product solutions.
Align customer roadmaps with company product and technology roadmaps.
7. Regional Strategy Support
Support the Applications Manager and Regional Product Managers (RPMs) in developing and executing regional marketing and product strategies.
Secondary Responsibilities
1. Engineering Calculations & Product Selection
Conduct engineering calculations to support product selection and recommendations using tools such as:
PumpCalc
TranCalc
Pump Modeler
2. Customer Problem Solving
Address customer issues and application challenges utilizing expert knowledge of semiconductor/display processes.
Ensure solutions align with the company’s mission, values, financial objectives, and sales strategy.
Support failure analysis, warranty reduction efforts, and technical issue prevention.
3. Knowledge Management
Collaborate with the global applications team to develop and maintain a reliable knowledge database, including BKMs, AIBs, and best practices.
4. Market Analysis
Regularly perform market share analysis and validate findings in partnership with Sales and Service teams.
5. Reporting & Documentation
Maintain accurate records of:
Target accounts
Opportunities
Projects
Customer contacts
MTBF / MTBS of targeted processes
Weekly reports
Meeting minutes
6. Training
Provide training to customers and employees on:
Semiconductor/display processes
Vacuum technology
Product applications
Short Description
The Application Engineer serves as the primary technical resource for the regional sales force and plays a critical role in driving the technology evaluation stage of the sales process. This position partners closely with Sales, Field Service, Product Management, R&D, and technical teams to provide expert application support, solve technical issues, and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the full sales cycle.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in semiconductor and DSL processes (Display, Solar, LED & Emerging) and the ability to translate customer requirements into practical product solutions that support business growth and successful product adoption.
Your skills and experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field required
Master’s degree preferred
Experience
Research and/or academic background in semiconductor/display manufacturing processes, products, and equipment
Research and/or academic background in semiconductor materials such as high-k materials, metal organics, and related chemical reactions
Language
Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken
Equivalent proficiency such as OPIc IM3 or TOEIC Speaking Level 6 preferred
Required Qualifications
Proven project management skills
Strong presentation skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Strong communication skills, including interpersonal and intercultural communication
Preferred Qualifications
Good understanding of marketing and the semiconductor/display market
Knowledge of:
Plasma
Vibration / noise analysis
Statistics
Fluid dynamics
Knowledge of vacuum technologies, equipment, and gauges
Knowledge of precursors, as well as material analysis methods and tools such as EDX and FTIR

- This role requires you to work on-site at our office in Hwaseong, Korea (the Republic of) (KR). You will be part of a dynamic team and enjoy the benefits of face-to-face collaboration.
- This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our (insert organization here) in Hwaseong, Korea (the Republic of) (KR).
