R&D Manager (Core components) (m/f/d)

The Role:

For our location in Karlsruhe we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated R&D manager to join our Corporate R&D team focusing on the core component development. The R&D manager will be responsible for developing cutting edge and future prove core components for our Maschine Vision inspection systems. You will work with all divisional R&D teams, supplier, external partner, and other stakeholders to ensure long-term profitable growth for our division. 

• Secure a future proof core component portfolio, based on stakeholder and market input enabling an organic growth.
• Ensure successful implementation of the product development plan – accelerating product development and making sure that each project delivers within budget, on time and according to specification.
• Promote an innovative culture to secure a progressive mindset, incorporating new technologies in our offerings such as embedded solutions, low power consumption modules, etc.
• Secure quality, modularization, and industrialization through the development process to enable a premium price and customer value.
• Promote knowledge and technology sharing between the different R&D departments within Corporate and other R&D groups.
• Focus on ‘ease of use’ of our solutions to drive both customer satisfaction and internal efficiency gains.
• Work on continuous improvements, be ambassador for leading change and encourage agility to make things happen.
• Initiate innovative ideas based on real business cases or sustainable innovation strategy and provide the latest technologies for market-driven product solutions to maintain technology and cost leadership.
• In parallel actively develop the existing product portfolio in terms of function, cost, manufacturing, quality, and sustainability.

What we expect of you:

• The successful candidate has minimum 5 years’ experience of hardware or illumination development preferably with additional knowledge in embedded systems and solid experience from R&D leadership roles
• Experience from various machine vision technologies is a plus.
• You have a technical university degree or similar.
• You are capable and willing to work hands-on with the team.
• You are collaborative, open-minded, and resourceful.
• In this role you need excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, whilst being Detail-oriented and committed to producing high-quality work.
• You are self-motivated with a strong drive for results.
• As ideal candidate you have solid communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate with cross-functional teams.
• Fluent in German and English is a requirement.
