Application and Product Manager

Your role
The Application and Product Manager exists to make our Scientific Vacuum sales teams and channel partners more successful in winning business. By turning deep applications and product expertise into ready-to-sell solutions, proposals and know-how, the role is the growth engine of the multi-branded Scientific Vacuum business (Edwards and Leybold) across SEA & ANZ.
It accelerates growth in our strategic new products – leak detection, residual gas analysers and complete leak detection systems – and drives the replacement of legacy pumps with the current generation of models, protecting and expanding the installed base while raising the technical competence and win-rate of the entire sales channel.
Your day-to-day
1. Sales & Partner Enablement – Making Our Channel More Successful
• Act as the single technical focal point that helps Business Line Managers, Sales Managers, Sales Engineers, Key Account Managers and channel partners win – providing the product selection, application guidance and proposals that convert Scientific Vacuum opportunities into orders across SEA & ANZ.
• Shorten response times and raise win-rates on applications enquiries, so sales spend more time closing and less time searching for answers.
• Coach and up-skill the direct and indirect sales channels so they can confidently sell the full Scientific Vacuum portfolio.
2. Accelerating Growth in New Products – Leak Detection, RGA & Leak Detection Systems
• Own the applications and commercial push behind our priority growth products: leak detectors, residual gas analysers and complete leak detection systems.
• Build the demonstrations, reference cases, technical arguments and go-to-market materials that let sales open and rapidly scale these segments.
• Identify, qualify and develop new applications and customers for these products, turning them into a growing, repeatable pipeline.
3. Growing the Installed Base – Legacy Pump Replacement
• Drive migration of the installed base from obsolete and legacy pumps to current-generation Edwards and Leybold models – protecting existing revenue and unlocking upgrade sales.
• Define clear retrofit and replacement paths – from obsolete components and competitor parts to modern equivalents – and equip sales to target and convert these opportunities systematically.
4. Applications Engineering & Customer Solutions
• Provide accurate, application-correct product selection and innovative technical solutions for OEM and diffuse customers, from pre-sales through to a working installation.
• Resolve complex enquiries that go beyond catalogues and published material, reinforcing customer confidence in the technical competence and professionalism of the organisation.
5. Proposals & Technical Documentation
• Own the creation, quality and management of technical proposals and supporting documentation for pre-sales and post-order support.
• Ensure every document presented to a customer reflects the standard and professionalism of the Scientific Vacuum business.
6. Market & Competitive Intelligence
• Maintain up-to-date awareness of markets, customers, applications, competitors, market shares and growth rates across the product range.
• Translate this intelligence into opportunities for existing products and clear input for the introduction of new products.
7. Product Management Interface & New Product Introduction (NPI)
• Act as the regional bridge between SV Global Product Management and the SEA & ANZ sales and applications teams.
• Localise and land new product introductions – training the channels on the vacuum requirements and positioning of NPI products so growth starts at launch.
