Are you passionate about hands‑on engineering, diagnostics, and supporting customers in complex technical environments?
As a Technical Support Engineer – Mechatronics Specialist, you will join the General Vacuum (GV) EMEA Customer Centre, part of Edwards, an Atlas Copco Group company, supporting customers and internal teams across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
You will act as a first and second point of contact for aftersales technical enquiries related to mechanical and electrical systems of vacuum pumps and leak detection equipment. Working closely with customers, Field Service Engineers, Sales and Service teams, you will play a key role in diagnosing complex issues, guiding corrective actions, and ensuring high‑quality technical support while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key responsabilities
- Act as the first or second point of contact for aftersales technical enquiries (phone and email)
- Provide advanced technical support on mechanical and electrical issues across Edwards and Atlas Copco vacuum products
- Diagnose complex failures using manuals, drawings, SOPs and P&IDs
- Perform in‑depth analysis of vacuum pump performance, including vibration, temperature and leakage issues
- Guide Field Service Engineers and customers on corrective actions, parts selection and re‑assembly best practices
- Manage complex technical cases and escalations, collaborating with Product Companies and engineering teams as required
- Follow up on GENIUS fault leads and support fault finding and report closure
- Contribute to technical documentation, training sessions and knowledge sharing
- Support warranty and quality cases and participate in continuous improvement activities
- Provide virtual support via tools such as Service Eye and GENIUS, with occasional on‑site support when required
To succeed, you will need
Qualifications, knowledge & experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a technical support or similar engineering role
- Technical background in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation or related engineering fields
- Experience with vacuum technology or industrial equipment is an advantage
Key Skills & additional requirements
- Strong diagnostic, analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work independently while reporting remotely to a Technical Support Manager
- Good IT skills, including MS Office and the ability to work with systems such as SAP
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly
- Fluent in English (additional European languages are a plus)
- Willingness to travel across the region (30%); valid driving licence

Job location
Flexibility is key in this role and we're open on location. You can work hybrid if you’re close to our offices in Italy (Milan, Avezzano), or France (Herblay), or you can choose a fully remote setup in these countries or anywhere in Europe, including UK, Spain and Portgual.
