Role Overview

 

The External Sales Manager leads our external sales team across Eastern Canada, driving profitable growth and maximizing sales effectiveness.

This role is responsible for coaching and developing Technical Sales Representatives while ensuring strong execution of the Compressor Service division strategy in the market. 

The External Sales Manager reports directly to the Business Line Manager – CSO and is based out of our headquarters office in Montreal. 

 

Main responsibilities:

 

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Technical Sales Representatives to drive sales effectiveness and results.
  • Strengthen the team’s commercial, technical, and interpersonal capabilities through structured training and ongoing coaching.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, monitor results, and implement improvement plans where needed.
  • Drive the divisional sales strategy to achieve strong, profitable growth aligned with national targets and business objectives.
  • Identify and capitalize new business opportunities in collaboration with product and business line leadership.
  • Lead and support key strategic projects, ensuring disciplined execution and measurable outcomes.
  • Optimize the use of sales tools and systems (CRM, IQ2, Power BI) to improve visibility, efficiency, and decision-making.
  • Monitor sales pipeline, forecasting accuracy, and overall team performance, ensuring consistent reporting and follow-up.
  • Review contract profitability, take proactive actions on low-margin opportunities, and collaborate with sales and operations teams to improve outcomes.
  • Conduct regular business reviews, analyze trends, and address performance gaps.
  • Engage with customers to strengthen relationships, resolve complex issues, and support strategic account development.
  • Review and negotiate customer contract terms in coordination with internal legal teams, ensuring risk mitigation and alignment with company standards.
  • Partner with Product Management, Operations, and Business Line leadership to align on growth priorities, resource planning, and execution strategies.

Requirements

 

  • Minimum 3 years proven experience in sales, business development, or a related commercial role, with demonstrated success in driving growth.
  • Minimum 2 years leadership experience or a demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Experience using sales and business systems such as CRM, CPQ/IQ2
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build strong relationships.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills, including the ability to develop and deliver training sessions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English and French is required
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
