The SHEQ Manager is responsible for leading the implementation, continuous improvement, and sustainability of Safety, Health, Environment, Energy, and Quality (SHEQ) programs across our Canadian operations.

In this strategic leadership role, you will drive a high-performance safety culture by guiding and developing the local SHEQ team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and operational excellence. You will champion best practices, foster employee engagement, and embed SHEQ principles into all aspects of the business.

Reporting directly to the President & General Manager of Atlas Copco Compressors Canada, the SHEQ Manager is a key member of the senior leadership team.

 

Main responsibilities include:

  • Monitor SHEQ performance, KPIs, action plans and identify improvement opportunities
  • Recommend corrective actions and drive continuous improvement
  • Align division with Atlas Copco Group SHEQ targets and policies
  • Track sustainability metrics and support reporting
  • Own the Integrated Management System (IMS) including ISO standards: ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environment), ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) and ISO 50001 (Energy)
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and internal standards
  • Support audits, certifications and process improvement
  • Develop and strengthen safety culture across the business
  • Lead the investigation and follow up on incidents and accidents
  • Lead risk identification and mitigation actions
  • Participate in work environment committees and lead discussions
  • Present SHEQ performance to management and business boards
  • Drive awareness and training programs in safety and compliance
  • Act as internal expert and advisor on SHEQ matters
  • Hold authority to stop work if there is risk to life, health and environment
  • Supporting in other related tasks and projects
  • Complying with the organization’s environmental, health & safety, recycling, sustainability efforts and quality assurance policies and standards

What will help you succeed in your new role

 

  • Minimum 5 years experience in SHEQ, HSE, or similar roles in industrial/engineering environments
  • Strong knowledge of ISO standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 50001)
  • Experience leading audits, certifications, and compliance programs
  • Demonstrated track record in incident investigation and root cause analysis
  • Experience driving continuous improvement and performance (KPIs, action plans)
  • Background in risk assessment, hazard identification, and mitigation
  • Strong leadership capabilities and proven ability to lead and direct a team
  • Experience delivering training and leading safety culture initiatives
  • Strong communication skills in English and French are preferred. French language skills would be a strong asset.

Job location
