Your role

As a Lead Manufacturing Process Engineer, your mission is for the execution of the manufacturing strategy across multiple production zones.  You will lead a small team of engineers and will ensure long term manufacturing targets are being addressed through ongoing project activity and review of new project ideas.  You will be responsible for seeing the resolution of manufacturing issues in production and the maintenance of audit documentation. Additionally, you will be responsible for the tracking and completion of new product launches across the production zones – working with internal stake holders and global resources to identify issues proactively and bringing them to resolution. You will report to Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

You will

  • Lead and manage direct reports to meet both daily operational and long-term departmental goals through coaching, performance management, and ongoing development.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in productivity, waste reduction, safety/ergonomics, etc.
  • Work with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager to identify and implement Industry 4.0 across the plant environment
  • Lead the review, internal communication and resolution of new product launch actions in their assigned zones
  • Report on production and department KPIs and active projects associated to those KPIs
  • Maintain FMEA and audit documentation of each zone to promote focus on essential projects
  • Investigation and resolution of process and product deviations, including participation in 8D review meetings
  • Drive lean methodology on the floor by leading and participating in kaizen and 5S events
  • Prepares presentations for multiple levels of the organization to effectively propose capital investment and major process improvements
  • Other duties as required

  • B.S. in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing or another related engineering discipline required
  • 5 years of experience as an engineer in manufacturing or an automotive supplier environment or similar required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading teams or direct reports preferred 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – able to communicate effectively to all levels of an organization
  • Ability to teach and coach other team members in the tools necessary to be successful in their roles

 

  • Understanding of the general manufacturing processes and standard quality requirements
  • Ability to root cause and troubleshoot issues to bring about resolution
  • Capable of managing the activities of other engineers while executing individual projects concurrently
  • Ability to adapt and adjust priorities as necessary to support operations
  • Ability to travel locally and internationally periodically as needed (Less than 10%

  • Ability to safely move about a large production facility as needed, on a regular basis.
