Technical Sales Representative / Sales Engineer - General Industry (NSW)

Your role
The Technical Sales Representative – NSW is a front-line, revenue-driving role responsible for developing and growing sales of Atlas Copco General Industry solutions across New South Wales.
This position focuses on field sales execution, product demonstration, technical solution selling, and customer development, working directly with end users and through authorized distributors.
It is an individual contributor role, critical for short-term growth and long-term market penetration.
Key Outcomes
- Consistent achievement of order intake and sales targets
- Expansion of Atlas Copco footprint in manufacturing, automation, mining, energy, maintenance and industrial assembly
- Strong, trust-based relationships with customers, decision-makers, distributors and Atlas Copco team.
- Increased adoption of smart, connected, and error-proof assembly solutions
Core Responsibilities
1. Field Sales & Business Development
- Actively sell Atlas Copco General Industry tools, systems, and solutions (Hardware and software) in NSW
- Develop new customers and distributors while growing existing accounts
- Identify new applications, projects, and growth opportunities
- Execute structured territory planning and daily call routing
- Own the full sales cycle: lead → opportunity → quotation → order
2. Technical & Solution Selling
- Analyze customer processes to identify bottlenecks, risks, and improvement areas
- Propose value-based solutions, not just products
- Conduct:
- On-site customer visits
- Technical assessments
- Product demonstrations and presentations
- Promote:
- Advanced tightening strategies
- Error-proofing and operator guidance
- Data capture, traceability, and process capability concepts
- Support customers with ROI and payback justifications
3. Distributor & Channel Support
- Work closely with authorized distributors and service partners
- Support distributor sales through:
- Joint customer visits
- Technical training
- Application support
- Build long-term, mutually beneficial distributor relationships
- Identify gaps in coverage and support corrective actions
4. Market Intelligence & CRM Discipline
- Maintain accurate and disciplined CRM usage:
- Account plans
- Opportunities, sales pipeline
- Forecasting and activity tracking
- Monitor competitor activity, pricing, and market trends
- Provide structured feedback to the Business Line Manager on:
- Key projects
- Market dynamics
- Competitive threats
5. Professional Representation
- Represent Atlas Copco at:
- Trade shows
- Customer days
- Product launches and seminars
- Participate in internal sales meetings, training, and toolbox talks
- Act as a trusted technical and commercial advisor to customers
To succeed, you will need
- 5+ years experience in technical or industrial field sales
- Background in manufacturing, automation, wind, mining, energy, or industrial assembly
- Proven ability to sell technical solutions and premium products
- Strong understanding of industrial processes and applications
- Experience managing a sales territory and achieving targets
- High level of autonomy, discipline, and ownership
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Automation) or equivalent experience
- Experience working with distributors or channel partners
- Exposure to smart tools, automation, or digital manufacturing concepts
- Experience delivering customer training or technical seminars
- Australian citizen
