Service Sales Engineer

Your role
We’re looking for a Sales Engineer to maximise the growth and profitability of our CTS business in the North East. You’ll be building strong relationships with both new and existing customers, focusing initially on our Wearside customers, and then fully integrating across the Atlas Copco customer base. This is a field-based role where no two days are the same. You’ll be on the road, meeting customers, problem-solving, and finding ways to deliver real value.
In this role, you’ll make an impact by:
- Managing and prioritising your own sales activities to achieve agreed business goals.
- Preparing accurate proposals, including pricing, for both new and existing contracts.
- Identifying opportunities for renewals, extensions, or alternative solutions for customers.
- Carrying out site surveys and providing technical advice to customers and prospects.
- Building and maintaining strong customer relationships, ensuring excellent after-sales service.
- Using data effectively to track performance, record visits and actions, and analyse results.
- Delivering presentations that strengthen our brand and generate new business.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the group to coordinate efforts and share success.
- Reporting on activities and providing management with relevant insights.
- Attending sales meetings and following through on actions.
To succeed, you will need
We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every single requirement. We value diverse experiences and perspectives and are excited to see what you bring to the role.
- Proven sales experience, ideally in a technical field.
- A background or qualification in engineering/technical disciplines (preferred, but not essential if you’ve got strong sales skills and the drive to learn, we’ll teach you the rest).
- Knowledge of the compressed air industry (a bonus, not a must).
- A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel across the North East region (with occasional UK travel to other offices).
- Excellent IT skills and a willingness to learn new systems.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Great organisation and time management abilities.
In return, we offer
- A collaborative, supportive team environment where your contributions are valued.
- Ongoing training and development, at least 40 hours per year, to build your skills and confidence.
- A complete field setup, including company car, laptop, iPad, and smartphone.
- A competitive benefits package, including a strong pension scheme and an achievable commission structure.
- A career with purpose: we’re passionate about employee growth, progression, and long-term success.
