Application, Proposal & Project Engineer- Scientific Vacuum Systems

Your role
pplication/Proposal & Pre‑Sales Engineering
- Analyze customer specifications, RFQs, and technical requirements for high vacuum and ultra‑high vacuum (HV/UHV) systems.
- Perform basic vacuum calculations (pump sizing, conductance, evacuation time, leak rates).
- Design, integration, and validation of scientific vacuum systems, including:
- Rough, high vacuum, and UHV systems
- Turbo molecular pumps, dry pumps, ion pumps, cryopumps
- Vacuum gauges, valves, leak detectors, residual gas analysers (RGA)
- Prepare technical proposals, system configurations, P&IDs, layout drawings, BOQs, and compliance statements.
- Support commercial teams with cost estimation, technical clarifications, risk assessment, and value engineering.
- Interact with customers, consultants, and research institutions to clarify technical requirements and scope of supply.
- Coordinate with design, manufacturing, and procurement teams for accurate proposal inputs.
Project Engineering & Execution
- Execute awarded projects from order handover to site acceptance and final documentation.
- Develop project plans, schedules, and milestones; monitor progress against timelines and budgets.
- Coordinate internal teams (design, fabrication, assembly, testing, quality, and logistics).
- Review and approve engineering documents, drawings, and specifications for vacuum systems.
- Manage technical discussions with customers during project execution.
- Support factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT).
- Troubleshoot system performance issues during testing and commissioning.
Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare and maintain project documentation:
- Technical manuals
- Test and inspection reports
- As‑built drawings
- Compliance and QA documents
Ensure adherence to applicable standards (ISO, ASME, customer‑specific standards).
To succeed, you will need
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Master’s degree in Vacuum Technology / Applied Physics is an advantage.
Experience
- 3–8 years of experience in high vacuum or scientific vacuum systems, R&D equipment, semiconductor, space, or research applications.
- Hands‑on experience in proposal preparation and project execution is strongly preferred.
Others
- Experience of interface with customers and suppliers in Engineering environment.
- Project Management & Business development skills
- Must be a good communicator and have excellent fluency in spoken and written English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, orientation in modern IT structures and processes. SAP, MS Project desirable.
- Should be self-driven and have an excellent problem-solving ability.
