This is an exciting opportunity to join the Global Business and IT Solutions Center (GBISC) Human Resources team as Deputy Manager – HR in the Vacuum Technique Business Area, Pune, India. GBISC is a global hub providing IT, Finance, HR, and other services to Atlas Copco sites and stakeholders worldwide. The Pune HR team currently employs around 150 employees, with plans for further growth.
The Deputy Manager HR will play a key role in supporting local employees and teams, driving HR operations, enhancing employee experience, and implementing HR initiatives aligned with VTBA business priorities. The role also involves collaboration among GBS and VTIS teams and leaders, VTBA HR community, and VTBA global programs to ensure best practices and global initiatives are effectively embedded locally.
The Deputy Manager – HR will work closely with and report to the Human Resources Manager of GBISC, acting as a trusted partner for site leadership and as a GBISC point of contact for leader advisory, employee engagement, workforce planning, and HR operations. This role requires strong stakeholder management, adaptability, and a focus on building a high-performing, inclusive, and engaged workforce at the GBISC Pune.
Your role
• Talent Attraction & Employer Branding: Lead local talent attraction initiatives to ensure the organization remains an employer of choice in GBISC Pune. Build relationships with local universities, institutes, and community partners to strengthen the talent pipeline. Support employer branding activities that directly engage and benefit local employees while aligning, where relevant, with broader VTBA guidelines.
• Early Careers & Workforce Planning: Manage early career programs at the GBISC Pune (graduate hires, internships) to meet local workforce needs and ensure a strong pipeline of talent. Actively identify and nurture local internal talents and high-potential employees, creating opportunities for their development and career growth. Collaborate closely with VTBA People & Culture community on VTBA global Early Career Programs, ensuring local participation and alignment with global VTBA objectives, while tailoring initiatives to the needs of GBISC Pune.
• HR Operations & Employee Experience: As a core member of the GBISC Pune HR team, lead end-to-end HR operations across the full employee lifecycle (Hire-to-Retire). Ensure processes are efficient, complaint, and employee friendly. Focus on providing excellent HR services to local teams while ensuring alignment with GBISC standards and VTBA globally defined HR processes.
• Payroll Governance: Oversee payroll for GBISC Pune employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with statutory requirements. Act as a trusted point of contact for payroll matters locally, while partnering with GBISC teams to drive governance, standardization, and continuous payroll improvement.
• People Programs & Wellbeing: Implement and adapt people initiatives—including recruitment, inclusion & diversity (I&D), wellbeing, and recognition—tailored to the needs of GBISC Pune employees. Partner with local leadership to embed these initiatives into the site’s culture, while aligning with global VTBA People & Culture strategy and priorities.
• Learning & Development: Create and deliver learning programs to build future-ready capabilities that meet local skill and career development needs. Collaborate with a broader group of GBS, VTIS and GBISC Leaders to identify capability gaps and roll out appropriate training programs and learning academies. Integration of global VTBA learning frameworks to ensure consistency and scalability.
• Employee Engagement & Communication: Strengthen engagement at the GBISC Pune through local communication channels, events, surveys and feedback platforms. Ensure that local employee insights are fed into GBS, VTIS, and global VTBA insight tools to help shape organizational decisions. Drive a culture of continuous feedback and improvement by leading the design, analysis, and action planning of employee insight and communication programs. Incorporate employee feedback into actionable plans that enhance GBISC’s organizational effectiveness.
• People Analytics & Insights: Lead data-driven HR decision-making by overseeing People analytics and performance metrics. Provide actionable insights through advanced reporting, trend analysis, and predictive modeling, and propose appropriate actions in response to identified trends to support both local GBISC and global VTBA People & Culture strategy and priorities.
• Compliance & HR Processes: Ensure HR practices in GBISC Pune comply with the labor law, regulatory requirements, holding, VTBA and Atlas Copco policies. Contribute to digital HR transformation by identifying local process improvements and aligning them with scalable GBISC and global VTBA solutions.
• Collaboration among GBS, VTIS, other functions and VTBA HR Community: Act as a connector across the GBISC Pune HR team, GBISC functions, GBS and VTIS Leadership, and the VTBA HR community. Ensure effective knowledge sharing and alignment, so that global VTBA People & Culture initiatives and processes are successfully embedded at the GBISC Pune while keeping focus on supporting local employees and teams.
To succeed, you will need
Skills / Knowledge / Experience
- Graduate and/or Post-graduate/MBA in Human Resources or a related field.
- 5–8 years of progressive HR experience, including exposure to strategic people delivery.
- Strong foundational HR knowledge with the ability to advise leaders on complex or escalated employee relations matters.
- Solid understanding of Indian labor law and HR best practices.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a continuously changing and evolving environment.
- Experience in transformation initiatives and global HR projects will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in organizing and delivering employee events and engagement activities.
- Broad HR generalist profile with a strong human capital vision, excellent communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- High level of emotional intelligence, adaptability, and a growth mindset.
- Ability to act as a deputy to the HR Manager, representing HR in strategic meetings and managing senior stakeholders when required.
