Functional Consultant - Logistics and Warehouse Management

Your Role:
The Functional Consultant acts as a key advisor to the Business Analysts & Product Owners on ERP system processes and solutions. They translate Business needs into detailed functional requirements and technology-enabled use cases. They develop a deep understanding of the opportunities, risks, and issues facing the Business, and advise on how technology solutions can be used to achieve / resolve them.
Main Responsibilities:
- Supports the Product Owner to realise the Product strategy by converting detailed Business requirements into functional specifications and solutions.
- Supports technical delivery activities by advising Developers, etc. on expected system behavior, informed by clear Business requirements.
- Configures ERP components and modules to realise detailed functional requirements.
- Performs functional testing on delivered solutions, ensuring it fulfils detailed business requirements.
- Supports the Product Owner to identify areas where additional security and compliance considerations should be factored in (e.g., sensitive data handling). Works with internal SMAs and Product team to ensure these considerations have been addressed correctly.
- Handles configuration changes and emergency transport for high priority production issues (as needed).
- Provides escalated support for incident resolution related to ERP configuration.
- Provides Business and IS with key functional guidance on relevant ERP specialisms to inform the approach to realising Business needs and architectural evolution.
To succeed, you will need:
Skills / Knowledge / Experience:
- Solid working knowledge of SAP ERP modules, including MM / SD, with the ability to apply this knowledge to real world business scenarios.
- Experience of WM/EWM and integration with SAP ECC is beneficial
- Knowledge of logistics execution, purchasing and warehouse management processes and integration (e.g., STO, shipping, warehousing, EDI, IDocs) is preferred
- Strong understanding of SAP customizing and IMG navigation.
- Proven experience working directly with business stakeholders and end users to gather, clarify, and refine functional and technical requirements.
- Working understanding of ABAP programming structures, with the ability to perform first level debugging and issue investigation.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high quality functional specifications and collaborate closely with ABAP developers to review, validate, and assure the quality, stability, and robustness of delivered solutions.
- Strong capability in test case design, execution, and documentation, ensuring solutions meet business requirements and quality standards.
- Hands-on experience in Agile methodologies and practices (e.g., SAFe, Scrum, Kanban) is beneficial.
