Your role
The SAP Basis Administrator is responsible for ensuring the technical stability, performance, availability, and security of SAP R/3 systems operating on SUSE Linux and IBM DB2 databases. The role encompasses end-to-end SAP technical operations, including system administration, database coordination, interface and middleware management, transport control, monitoring, upgrades, incident management, and disaster recovery.
This position is critical to business continuity, serving as a key liaison between SAP application teams, infrastructure and database teams, middleware teams, hosting partners, and external service providers.
The SAP Basis Administrator plans, implements, configures, and troubleshoots SAP technical environments and acts as the primary technical point of contact for hosting providers. The role also functions as an internal consultant to SAP application teams and business stakeholders.
In addition, the role includes responsibility for scheduling and managing SAP transports, performing system installations, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance, and conducting performance analysis and optimization. This involves analyzing report and process runtimes and working closely with application teams to improve overall system performance through tuning, indexing, and architectural improvements.

To succeed you will need:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting and operating SAP systems in enterprise environments.
- Strong experience with SAP Basis administration, including installations, upgrades, transports, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of SAP databases (DB2 required; HANA exposure is an advantage).
- Strong experience with Linux environments (SUSE; AIX is a plus) and Windows Server administration.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex SAP, OS, database, and interface-related issues.
- Experience supporting SAP interfaces and integrations (RFC, ALE/IDoc).
- Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem Management) and customer-facing support.
- Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to work independently, understand complex technical contexts, and collaborate effectively with technical and business teams.
- Ability to understand complex documents and contexts
- Self-organized and persist in a polite way to obtain missing information from colleagues and business
