Your Role

You will be part of the CFD competence team that supports product development with thermal and flow analyses. You advise the design teams during the development of innovative, high-quality products, from the conceptual design up to serial production. Additionally, you are responsible for supporting Team leader in developing the fluid-dynamics and thermal competence domain in Atlas Copco.

Responsibilities

• You perform advanced CFD analyses for a wide range of applications and products. In close collaboration with your internal client and with the necessary creativity you translate your findings to a performant and cost-effective design. The client is guided by you from the moment you receive the request up to the implementation of the solution.

• In all projects a customer focused approach is crucial. You are able to analyze the client’s problem and asses if he needs a simple hand calculation or a more complex CFD-simulation. It is your task to select the most efficient and accurate solution strategy to tackle the job.

• Along with the project execution, you are expected to
  • Do the planning and estimation of the new projects.
  • Help the colleagues for any technical challenges faced by them.
  • Perform peer reviews.

• Interaction with overseas Atlas Copco customers on a regular basis is required. 

• You remain up to date with the last developments in the field of fluid dynamics and thermal analyses. You identify opportunities to improve and/or expand our calculation models and tools. And together with your colleagues you introduce these improvements in our processes worldwide and develop the fluid-dynamics and thermal competence domain in Atlas Copco.

• Compliance to ISO Procedures.

Education/Experience requirement

M.Tech/ M.E. with about 4 to 6 years of experience in CFD. Having acquired a Ph.D. in this domain is an advantage.

Knowledge

• In-depth knowledge of computational fluid dynamics (CFD), fluid dynamics, and heat transfer.
• Knowledge of turbomachinery and pumps is an added advantage.
• Proficiency in CFD simulation tools; knowledge of OpenFOAM is an added advantage.
• Experience in Multiphysics simulations, including coupling CFD with other analysis methods.
• Expertise in multiphase flow, reaction modelling, and aeroacoustics.
• Experience in developing system-level simulation models using 1D tools.
• Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C++) for CFD automation and post-processing.
• Programming skills for workflow customization and automation are an added advantage.
• Ability to convert problem statements into effective modelling strategies and translate results into actionable solutions.
• Strong judgment and critical thinking for interpreting analysis results.
• Technical insight and strong interest in product development.
• Project management capabilities.
