Your role
Mission:
Join Atlas Copco's Mechanical Design Engineered Solutions team for Oil Free Air as a Design Engineer where you will take ownership of leading compressor design projects on a global scale. You will be responsible for delivering innovative, reliable, and efficient compressor solutions that adhere to the highest standards, all while meeting strict project timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple design and development projects independently or collaboratively, ensuring alignment with client and internal requirements.
- Engage proactively with cross-functional engineering teams, including manufacturing, quality, and testing departments, to ensure seamless product development and assembly process understanding.
- Interact directly with customers and stakeholders across Atlas Copco locations worldwide to gather requirements, present designs, and incorporate feedback effectively.
- Employ a variety of CAD tools, including AutoCAD and Inventor 3D, to create detailed mechanical designs compliant with design codes and company standards.
- Conduct rigorous design validation and CAD checks to ensure accuracy and functionality before releasing designs to production.
- Identify both explicit and implicit project requirements, demonstrating sound project management skills to deliver results within agreed schedules and budgets.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by sharing knowledge and suggesting innovative design approaches within the team.
- Ensure compliance with applicable international standards such as ASME, CE, and API throughout the design process.
- Report directly to the Team Leader, providing regular updates on project progress, potential risks, and opportunities for enhancement.

To succeed, you will need
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven proficiency in mechanical design and drafting with hands-on experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD and Inventor 3D.
- Experience designing skid packages for compressors and dryers is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, piping design, and heavy fabrication processes.
- Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems such as SAP and Enovia PLM.
- Understanding of relevant international standards including ASME, CE marking, and API codes, enhancing design compliance.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with at least three years of industry experience in compressors or allied mechanical design sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams with strong communication skills in English.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel internationally for project engagements when required.
