Design / Senior Design Engineer - NPD - OFA 1

Your role

As a Product Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role within the innovation lifecycle, responsible for leading the design and development of advanced products, components, equipment, and systems. Your focus will be on embedding sustainability and cutting-edge technology to align with our organization’s commitment to science-based targets. Your core responsibilities include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering complemented by 3 to 8 years of relevant experience.
• Fundamental understanding of air compressor technology and practical experience designing compressor packages.
• Proficiency in interpreting contract documents to ensure designs align precisely with defined scopes.
• Insight into key factors influencing product performance, quality standards, and aesthetic considerations.
• Familiarity with modular design methodologies and their application in product development.
• Hands-on experience collaborating with design engineers to finalize design layouts and validate outputs.
• Technical skills in sheet metal fabrication, piping system design, flange selection, and heavy fabrication, including preparation of detailed 3D assemblies and 2D technical drawings.
• Demonstrated ownership of projects from initial concept through to successful delivery.
• Commitment to adhering to Atlas Copco’s design codes, standards, and quality norms under the guidance of team leadership.
• Expertise in the product development lifecycle, from concept to market-ready product.
• Familiarity with design tools such as DFMEA, design review processes, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and design for serviceability principles.
• Experience overseeing external design agency work both onsite and remotely.
• Strong proficiency with CAD software including Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD, as well as ERP (BPCS), Autodesk Vault, and PLM (Enovia) systems.
