Design / Senior Design Engineer - NPD - Piston Technology

Your role
In the capacity of Design / Senior Design Engineer – NPD – Piston Technology, you will play a pivotal role in the end-to-end product development cycle, focusing on the creation and enhancement of innovative piston technologies. Your work will directly contribute to reducing the Time to Market while elevating the technical expertise within the GECIA teams through a solution-centric methodology. You will engage in strategizing and implementing projects with the dual objective of on-time delivery and achieving a first-time right approach, ensuring high-quality standards throughout.
You are expected to spearhead efforts in product innovation and development of technology platforms, taking full accountability for planning and monitoring project milestones within the framework of GECIA’s organizational processes. Furthermore, your role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to harmonize design objectives with manufacturing feasibility and end-user requirements, promoting continuous improvement and technological advancement.
Through your thorough understanding of mechanical design principles, you will analyze and optimize component designs, validate concepts, and ensure that compliance with international standards is maintained. You will also provide mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a learning environment that aligns with the company’s mission to nurture talent and drive engineering excellence.
To succeed, you will need
Key Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering, with a professional experience spanning 3 to 7 years in related fields.
- Strong expertise in reciprocating compressors and familiarity with international standards including ASME, CE, and API.
- Hands-on experience with the design of skid packages for compressors is a valuable addition.
- Familiarity with project management principles enhances your candidacy.
- Technical prowess in sheet metal design, piping, flange selection, and heavy fabrication processes.
- Fluency in product development processes from concept to commercialization, including the use of APQP, DFMEA, and design review methodologies.
- Competence in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and designing for serviceability are essential.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems like Enovia.
- Experience generating BOMs and working with ERP systems such as BPCS.
- Demonstrated ability in performing component-level design calculations.
