Design/Senior Design Engineer_NPD_VTBA SEMI

Your role

As a Senior Design Engineer, you independently lead cost-effective, high-quality product development initiatives that reduce time to market and drive continuous innovation. You take full ownership of complex engineering projects, applying experimental and creative solutions beyond existing standards while ensuring compliance, sustainability, and long-term value creation.

Customer & Project Focus

• Understand New Product Development (NPD) project scope and requirements.
• Select, calculate, and validate machine components and materials.
• Work independently and support project leaders to achieve milestones.
• Apply innovative engineering methods and research emerging technologies.
• Conduct feasibility studies, develop concepts, and present proposals for approval.
• Deliver complete technical documentation, including drawings, BOMs, and instructions.
• Lead and participate in 3D and 2D design reviews.
• Identify and resolve technical issues efficiently.
• Collaborate across teams and contribute to discussions on quality and manufacturability.
• Provide regular project updates in team meetings.

People Focus

• Advise team leaders on specialized technical training and development needs.
• Share lessons learned and best practices across projects and departments.
• Act as a key resource for resolving complex technical queries in line with standards and business goals.

Operational Excellence

• Plan, prioritize, assign, and track tasks based on complexity and impact.
• Lead project estimation, reporting, and progress monitoring.
• Ensure adherence to SOPs, compliance requirements, and documentation standards.
• Review designs for safety, quality, and compliance with company, international, and customer standards.
• Maintain accurate records of drawings, markups, and technical communications.

Product Focus

• Promote reuse of components, modular designs, platforms, and subassemblies.
• Prepare ISO documentation, incorporate customer feedback, and drive continuous improvement.
• Maintain knowledge databases covering products, processes, tools, and expertise.
• Execute industrial product design including frames, brackets, piping, weldments, assemblies, and ERP-based BOM release.

Technology & Innovation Focus

• Identify and implement innovative, cost-efficient solutions to improve product performance, reliability, sustainability, and compliance with global regulations.
• Lead efficiency and automation initiatives to strengthen best-in-class engineering practices and continuous improvement.

Experience

• University degree in Engineering/Technology (Mechanical) with 4-7 years of experience.
• Fluent in English

Knowledge       

• Good command of general office software (Word, Excel, MS Project/MPP etc.).
• Understanding of Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA)
• Knowledge and understanding of design processes (Project and Development).
• Mechanical background with electrical awareness adds appreciation.
• Strong understanding and application of Engineering analysis and calculation.
• Awareness of legislative regulations and industry standards (experience highly desirable).
• Should understand the engineering activities (NPD and continuous improvement projects) within an organization.
• Experience with SAP for BoM and Material Master component research is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies such as HazOp and FMEA
• Knowledge of product reliability principles and testing.
• Able to read & understand P&ID, GA, Layouts etc.
• Working knowledge of CATIA, MS Office.
• Good knowledge and experience of any PLM/ ERP system.
• Knowledge of Semiconductor Dry pumps &  Abatement Solutions is an added advantage
