Diagnostic Engineer - Global Diagnostic Center (GAP)

Your role
Mission:
As a Diagnostics Engineer, you will redefine the future of turbo compressor & expander (from GAP division) maintenance by harnessing the power of IoT, AI, and advanced diagnostics. Leveraging data from SMARTLINK IoT technology, you’ll remotely analyze machine performance, anticipate issues, and deliver insights that drive reliability, efficiency, and cost optimization. Your expertise will empower GAP product companies / customer centers globally to achieve unparalleled operational excellence.
Roles:
What You’ll Do, short- and mid-term
- Data-Driven Analysis:
- Conduct detailed operation data analysis of IoT data uploads to ensure compressor & expander systems performance and uptime.
- Drive improvements opportunities in safety, reliability, and productivity for customer installations.
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting:

- Offer proactive remote support for reporting and analyses.
- Deliver clear and actionable recommendations for corrective and preventive maintenance, following GAP maintenance intervals.
- Global Collaboration:

- Work closely with technical and engineering teams in product company AC-Energas in Cologne and/or Divisional development team.
- Provide input to enhance IoT platform logic and algorithms, shaping the next generation of diagnostics.
- Continuous Improvement:

- Follow up on recommended solutions to ensure effectiveness.
- Gather field feedback to refine diagnostic tools and processes, driving higher system accuracy and efficiency.

- Algorithm Development & Validation:

- Contribute to the design, validation, and execution of advanced predictive and prescriptive maintenance algorithms for compressors & expanders.
- Help evolve diagnostic intelligence to predict potential failures and optimize uptime.
- Shift-Based Support:

- This role follows a structured shift schedule, planned to ensure 24×7 diagnostic support.
- You will be part of a dedicated team committed to delivering uninterrupted technical expertise and timely responses within the scope of diagnostic service.

What You Bring
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronics engineering.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in troubleshooting and engineering compressors or similar equipment.
- Knowledge of compressor room setups, including oil-free and oil-injected screw compressors, centrifugal compressors, and related equipment (e.g., dryers and vacuum pumps).
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of the Atlas Copco Compressor Technique equipment portfolio, in best case even GAP product portfolio.
- Nice to have: Familiarity with compressor control systems, airflow dynamics, and heat transfer principles.
- Analytical Mindset:
- Proficient in analysing IoT data streams, trend graphs, and historical records to make sound technical decisions.
- Experience in using diagnostic tools and combining multiple data points for actionable insights.
- Tech-Savvy:
- Knowledge of cloud-based IoT platforms, prescriptive maintenance software, and ERP systems.
- Experience with data visualization tools, AI-powered analytics, and connected system diagnostics.
