The Specialty Rental Division is connecting its global Rental Fleet to enhance safety, reliability, and productivity for customers relying on its rental solutions. To accelerate this initiative, we are looking for a Diagnostics Engineer – Electric Driven screw Compressors.

You will be part of the Global Diagnostic Center, working within a team of uptime specialists who combine deep technical knowledge with Industry 4.0 technologies and data-driven services.

As a Diagnostics Engineer, your mission is to support rental teams in maintaining the highest levels of compressor reliability to uphold our 24/7 uptime commitment. Atlas Copco captures real‑time operational data from electrical-driven compressors deployed at customer sites. By integrating IoT insights with your expertise in compressor systems, you will remotely identify issues, guide troubleshooting, and support technicians globally.

You will be responsible for interpreting machine behaviour, detecting deviations, and providing targeted recommendations to ensure reliable, efficient operation.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Remote Monitoring & Diagnostics- Analyse real-time compressor data, including pressures, temperatures, motor load, air-end performance, and alarms to identify anomalies or emerging failures.
  • Technical Support - Provide advanced remote troubleshooting guidance to field service technicians.
  • Data‑Driven Insights - Use IoT data, trend graphs, event logs, and alarm patterns to deliver clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Cross‑Equipment Collaboration - Work closely with diagnostics specialists for chillers, boilers, pumps, generators, and diesel driven compressors  to ensure consistent troubleshooting standards and integrated support strategies.
  • Continuous Improvement- Provide feedback on recurring faults, system behaviours, and diagnostic logic enhancement.
  • Safety & Compliance - Ensure all diagnostic guidance aligns with safety requirements, electrical standards, lock‑out/tag‑out practices, and operational procedures.
  • Experience Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering with 4+ years of field experience in installation, commissioning, service, and maintenance of electric driven compressors.

     

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Strong understanding of screw compressor operation, air-end performance, unloading/loading controls, and cooling systems.
    • Hands-on experience with electrical control panels, PLC systems, motor starters, soft starters, and VFDs used in industrial compressors.
    • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and trend graphs.
    • Familiarity with compressor protection systems, motor protection relays, temperature/pressure sensors, and instrumentation.
    • Good understanding of electrical power systems, harmonics, energy efficiency, and motor performance.
    • Capability to correlate electrical, mechanical, and control data to diagnose faults remotely.
    • Proficiency in English (written & spoken) for effective collaboration with global teams.
