SAP BW/HANA Engineer

Your Role:

• Design solutions to business’ data requirements on BW on HANA and/or on Native HANA as appropriate
• Liase with the business community to understand and advise on their specific requirements
• Support Platform Owner in Team management and Sprint organisation
• Develop end to end dataflows & storage solutions, being hands-on if need be
• Provide support and advice to ensure the smooth running of BW/HANA processes
• Troubleshoot issues relating to dataflow and provisioning to assist in their speedy resolution
• Delegate to and support other BW/HANA team members as necessary
• Ensure the quality and sustainability of BW/HANA solutions
• Liase with internal and external technical teams in order to acquire support and/or resolve issues
• Identify and implement process changes and improvements in order to maintain/improve the relevance of information systems and processes.

Principal accountabilities

• Design, Implementation & Maintenance of efficient, stable, sustainable data solutions
• Ensuring the smooth running of data processes so as to provide timely information to the business community

To succeed, you will need:

• Probably a Graduate
• More than 5 years experience developing on SAP BW and SAP Native HANA platforms
• Experience in Requirements gathering, preparation of Data flows, Technical Requirement Documentations and Quality Assurance.
• Expertise in SAP Business Warehouse HANA modelling (InfoProviders, Data Transforms etc)
• Expertise in Data Warehousing concepts
• Expertise in Analysis For Office BW Queries
• Knowledge of ABAP code, sufficient to understand and debug
• Experience in differing Testing aspects
• Experience of BW configuration
• Experience of development and transporting across landscapes
• Expertise in dataflow analysis to troubleshoot quality and performance issues
• Expertise in designing data solutions on BW and Native HANA
• Expertise in use of HANA Studio, Web IDE
• Experience of SAP Smart Data Integration (SDI) tool
• Expertise in developing dataflows on Native HANA (SDI flows, HANA Views)

• Expertise in SQL (Involved in complex development with implementation of Projections, Union, Join, Filters, Input Parameters, Semantic Assignments, Counters and Calculated Columns.)
• Knowledge of Project Management techniques
• Experience of seeking out solutions to resolve issues and to work with other technical teams to assist
• Must be an excellent team player, able to develop working relationships within the IT function and the business community especially remotely
• Self-motivated, able to work alone and remotely and manage own time.
• Needs good communication skills, to be persuasive and assertive, and to be plausible and effective.
• Fluent in English
