Your role
Job Description:
Your mission: Your mission will be to work on various project and deliver the high-quality services to our internal customers. To be the one of key member in vacuum technique - mechanical design team.
The role: To adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures to execute the project and guide the internal team during project execution, with the objective of delivering the assigned work as per the defined quality and timelines within the limits of GECIA's processes, structure and guidelines.
Project Execution: "Study the project brief and collect data from similar projects executed by GECIA; Follow the Atlas Copco/ customer specified standards to carry out virtual designing of the machine; Modify drawings based on feedback received from Project leader and Client; Visit shop floor and resolve technical queries during prototype production; Monitor daily hours spent and escalate overruns to the Project Leader in order to deliver the project as per the timelines and quality standards"
Work Planning and Mentoring: "Allocate work to the Design and Jr. Design Engineers based on criticality/ complexity of the task; Monitor the internal team and vendor's adherence to SOPs; Provide technical guidance to the team; Provide inputs to the Project Leader on technical trainings; Share learnings from new projects with the GECIA Team; Provide inputs to the team leader to update SOPs whenever required in order to guide the internal team and vendors on technical aspects of the project"
Status Reporting and Query Resolution: "Provide data to the Project Leader to resolve customer's technical queries on assigned work area; Interact with customers for L1 - L3 projects and resolve their queries; Create weekly status reports to be shared internally and externally in order to update stakeholders on project progress"
Quality Checks: "Conduct quality checks of self and team's output to achieve adherence to defined quality standards to deliver error free outputs ""FIRST TIME RIGHT""
Project closure: Follow project closure procedure by creating respective document mentioned in project closure list.
Additional work: To work on additional work assigned by senior team member as and when required.
Project Design
- Understand the scope of work for custom design project.
- Taking lead in planning and estimating the work.
- Expert in customized projects with many sub-assemblies.
- Expert in understanding assemblies of different equipment’s.
- Conduct feasibility study and design the manufacturing and engineering drawings as per requirements. Solving technical queries of subordinates and working as a Design Expert.
- Conducting design review of 3D models and 2D drawings.
- Coaching to junior employees.
- Design of Industrial Products includes –
- Design of base frames and mounting frames
- Design of supports, brackets, flexible hoses.
- Design for manufacturing and assembly.
- Design considering accessibility for service and ease of assembly.
- Expert in 3D solid modelling and sheet metal module.
- Expert in with part drawings and assembly drawings.
- Expert in Bill of materials and engineering change requests, drawing revisions.
- Expert in welding process and design.
- Expert in detailing drawings.
To succeed, you will need
Knowledge requirement
- BE Mechanical or Equivalent from recognised university + min 5-year experience in design domain.
- Good hands-on experience on CREO (4.0/8.0) CAD software.
- Good knowledge and experience of any PLM/ ERP system
- Well conversant with Microsoft office and good verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in SAP (PLM) would be an added advantage.
- Basic knowledge of vacuum pumps and technology

- Self-discipline and well-mannered person. Following office timing and work ethics.
- Able to communicate clearly about difficulties and status of work in hand.
- Proactive in informing problems related to project before it occurs.
- Having sense of urgency and sense of responsibility.
