Senior Design Engineer- Mechanical Design - NPD PTBA APE

Your role

Your mission is to independently spearhead cost-effective, high-quality product development initiatives, accelerating time to market while driving innovation at every stage. You are expected to take full ownership of complex projects, consistently seeking out and implementing experimental and creative solutions that exceed current standards. Lead End-to-End Product Development

• Own and execute complex New Product Development (NPD) projects from concept generation and feasibility studies through detailed design, validation, and release, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective solutions delivered on time.

Drive Engineering Excellence & Innovation

• Develop innovative design solutions, apply advanced engineering analysis and continuously improve product performance, manufacturability, reliability, and sustainability. 

Ensure Project Delivery, Quality & Compliance

• Plan and estimate engineering work, coordinate tasks, monitor project progress, maintain documentation, and ensure adherence to Atlas Copco standards, customer requirements, safety regulations, and quality procedures.

Promote Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Collaborate closely with project leaders, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams while driving process automation, reusable design practices, operational efficiency, and a culture of accountability, curiosity, experimentation, respect, and customer focus.

To succeed, you will need

Qualifications

• A university degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, paired with 4 to 7 years of practical experience in product design engineering.
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Core Skills

• Strong technical competency in engineering principles, analytical thinking, and problem-solving.
• Experience and knowledge related to fabrication methods, sheet metal work, and rotating machinery.
• Familiarity with new product development (NPD) processes and continuous improvement initiatives within engineering organizations.
• Ability to interpret and utilize engineering documentation such as P&ID, general arrangement drawings, and layout plans.
• Competence with CAD software including Inventor, Creo, and product lifecycle management (PLM) tools like Vault and Windchill.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), welding techniques, and surface treatments.
• Knowledge of heavy fabrication, canopy design, flexible hose configurations, compressors, generators, and pumps is advantageous.

Job location

   This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site in Pune, India (IN).
