As Sr. Design Engineer – NPD – Air Treatment, your mission is to deliver and participate in new product development projects from an engineering perspective while improving Time to Market and driving the technical competence of GECIA teams through a solution-centric approach. You will achieve this by developing your expertise and directing your efforts toward product innovation and technology platforms, while maintaining on-time delivery and a first-time-right approach.
As a Design Engineer / Sr. Design Engineer, you will plan project execution with the objective of delivering projects within the estimated timelines and quality standards, while adhering to GECIA's structure, processes, and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Focus
- Understand project requirements and work content based on the inputs received.
- Ensure GECIA's contribution toward improving Time to Market.
- Communicate progress and deliverable updates to stakeholders, raise red flags, and highlight concerns in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate GECIA's contribution to NPD projects.
- Monitor deliverables in adherence to SOPs and resolve technical issues as they arise.
- Ensure proper coordination with other competencies, including CAE, Electrical Design, and Technical Documentation.
- Ensure designs are reviewed by the designated design reviewer before release.

Your skills and experience
Experience Requirement
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 9-12 years of experience.
- Strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills to manage and develop a growing team of 12 or more engineers.
- Experience in handling operational issues.
- Hands-on experience in Oil-Free Air Compressor design is essential.
Knowledge Requirement
- Expertise in the Product Development Process (Concept-to-Product).
- Good knowledge of Oil-Free Air Compressor products, including Screw Compressors, Tooth Compressors, and Centrifugal Compressors.
- Deep understanding of modularity principles.
- Good knowledge of national and international standards and codes.
- Good knowledge of various CAD software tools.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including sheet metal fabrication and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
- Knowledge of Heat Exchangers, Pressure Vessels, Piping and Tubing Design, Flange Selection, etc.
- Basic understanding of P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), Flow Transmitters, Valves, Pressure Gauges, and Temperature Gauges.
- Knowledge of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and Design Review Processes is essential.
- Good knowledge of PLM and PDM tools such as BPCS, Enovia, and SAP.
