Senior Design Engineer: NPD-ITBA 1

Your role
As a Senior Design Engineer at Atlas Copco, you will lead product development projects from concept to completion, delivering innovative, cost‑effective, and sustainable engineering solutions. You will work independently and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design high‑quality products that meet customer and industry expectations.
Customer & Product Focus
- Define project scope and select materials/components in line with customer requirements and industry standards.
- Lead feasibility studies and develop innovative designs to solve complex engineering challenges and reduce time‑to‑market.
- Champion manufacturability, quality, modular design reuse, and standardization to improve scalability and cost efficiency.
- Maintain ISO documentation, incorporate customer feedback, and refine product performance.
- Specialize in industrial product design including tightening tools, machines, fixtures, and reaction arrangements with a focus on assembly and serviceability.
- Demonstrate expertise in Creo 3D modeling, BOM creation, and integration with ERP/PLM systems such as Windchill.
People & Collaboration
- Mentor team members on technical challenges and foster a collaborative, growth‑oriented environment.
- Support training, skill development, and cross‑departmental knowledge sharing to drive continuous improvement.
- Facilitate open communication within teams and engage in customer‑focused discussions.
Operational & Technology Excellence
- Lead project planning, monitoring, and reporting to meet quality and delivery targets.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards per Atlas Copco and international guidelines.
- Maintain accurate project documentation for traceability and transparency.
- Drive adoption of innovative technologies, automation, and process improvements to enhance performance, reliability, and sustainability.

Education & Experience
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering or Technology with 4 to 7 years of progressive experience in product design and development.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of tightening machinery and fixtures design principles.
- Expertise in fabrication, machining processes, and mechanical assembly.
- Proficient understanding of New Product Development (NPD) processes, including the ability to read and interpret P&ID, General Arrangements, and Layout drawings.
- Hands-on experience with Creo 3D CAD software and MS Office suite.
- Solid understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and manufacturing workflows.
