Your role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Sourcing Engineer / Buyer with expertise in Casting and Fabrication commodities. Position will be responsible for the procurement, development, and quality assurance of casting and fabricated components. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality sourcing solutions.
· Roles and Responsibilities Casting:
Source and develop suppliers for casting components, including iron, steel, and non-ferrous alloys.
Issue RFQs (Request for Quotations), analyse proposals, negotiate pricing and lead times.
Ensure suppliers meet technical and quality standards, including reviewing casting drawings, specs, and tolerances.
Conduct supplier audits and site evaluations to ensure capability and compliance with company and industry standards.
Work closely with engineering/ suppliers to review tooling designs, manufacturing feasibility, and cost optimization.
Handle project tracking and timeline management for new part developments (NPD/NPI).
Apply zero-based costing principles to estimate should-cost and validate supplier quotes.
Lead VAVE (Value Analysis / Value Engineering) projects to support cost reduction and process improvement.
Develop and maintain tri-party agreements involving supplier, customer, and company (if applicable).
Drive supplier consolidation and risk mitigation initiatives.
Ensure all sourcing activities are in alignment with the company’s procurement policies and compliance standards.
Stay updated on market trends, casting technologies, and cost drivers affecting the commodity.
· Roles and Responsibilities Fabrication:
Investigate quality problems at supplier sites through regular visits and follow-ups on improvement actions.
Have strong knowledge of zero-based costing to estimate accurate product costs.
Give technical support to suppliers and internal teams as needed.
Experience with VAVE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) projects and supplier consolidation is a plus.
Familiar with creating and managing tri-party agreements between buyer, supplier, and customer.
Work with project managers to address current defects and avoid them in future products.
Use your technical knowledge to test and improve the product.

Educational requirements:
University degree in Engineering/Technology (Mechanical)
Fluent in English

Experience requirements:
4-5 Years of experience in Sourcing domain, having experience casting & fabrication commodity & support project execution
Exposure to Project purchase environment is a plus

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our Atlas Copco Group in Pune, India (IN).
