Your role
Team Leader – NPD – OFA Standard Products
As Team Leader – NPD – OFA Standard Products, you will lead the Mechanical Design team of GECIA to deliver engineering solutions and technical support while improving Time to Market and strengthening the technical competence of the team through a solution-centric approach. You will drive Product Innovation, technology platforms, On-Time Delivery, and a First-Time-Right approach by developing team capabilities and ensuring effective project execution.
You will plan, monitor, and execute projects, resolve internal and external escalations, and ensure delivery within agreed timelines, quality standards, and GECIA processes.
Customer Focus
• Understand project requirements and allocate resources based on competency and skill requirements to ensure on-time and first-time-right delivery of OFA Standard Product designs.
• Ensure customer expectations are addressed promptly and appropriate actions are implemented.
• Create and maintain dashboards providing KPI visibility on planning, resource availability, workload, and quality.
• Drive GECIA's contribution to improving Time to Market.
• Ensure dedicated resource and team availability for customers.
• Communicate project progress, deliverable status, risks, and concerns to stakeholders while demonstrating GECIA's contribution to NPD projects.
• Align with business teams on planning and forecasting and highlight workload fluctuations.
• Monitor deliverables for SOP compliance and resolve technical issues with Technical Leaders.
• Ensure coordination with cross-functional teams including CAE, Electrical Design, and other competencies.
• Support Technical Leaders in implementing review mechanisms and quality checks.

Product Focus
• Create, develop, and maintain knowledge and skill management portals, databases, and repositories to document product, process, people, and tool knowledge in collaboration with Technical Leaders. Identify training needs for the team.
• Promote reusable components, product platforms, subassemblies, and modular designs.
Operational Excellence
• Create and maintain a resource planning mechanism to optimize utilization, agility, and alignment between work complexity and skill matrices.
• Apply Activity-Based Costing (ABC) principles to optimize resource allocation, align GECIA and partner resources, and define work for vendors and internal teams.
• Promote digitalization and drive CAD automation initiatives to automate repetitive activities, improve quality, and enhance operational efficiency.
To succeed, you will need
Experience Requirement
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 9-12 years of relevant experience in product design and development.
• Proven leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with experience managing and developing teams of 12 or more engineers.
• Experience in handling operational and project execution challenges while ensuring timely and quality deliverables.
• Hands-on experience in Oil Free Air Compressor design is mandatory.
• Experience in leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders across engineering, manufacturing, and business functions.
• Ability to drive technical excellence, resource planning, and continuous improvement initiatives within the organization.
Knowledge Requirement
• Expertise in Product Development Processes from Concept-to-Product realization.
• Strong knowledge of Oil Free Air Compressor products, including Screw, Tooth, and Centrifugal Compressors.
• Deep understanding of modularity principles and platform-based product development.
• Good knowledge of applicable national and international engineering standards and codes.
• Strong working knowledge of CAD software and engineering design tools.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes including Sheet Metal, Fabrication, Machining, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
• Knowledge of Heat Exchangers, Pressure Vessels, Piping and Tubing Design, Flange Selection, and related mechanical systems.
• Basic understanding of P&ID diagrams, Flow Transmitters, Valves, Pressure Gauges, Temperature Gauges, and associated instrumentation.
• Knowledge of APQP, DFMEA, Design Review Processes, and Product Validation methodologies.
• Good understanding of PLM and PDM systems such as BPCS, Enovia, SAP, or equivalent tools.
• Knowledge of engineering documentation, configuration management, and product lifecycle management practices.
